Manu Feildel speaks about his mum Evelyne’s breast cancer diagnosis – as he helps raise funds for research into preventions and treatments
Manu Feildel has spoken candidly about his mother Evelyne’s ongoing breast cancer diagnosis.
In an interview with Woman’s Day on Monday, the chef said it’s been difficult not being able to hug or support his mum during her treatment as she lives in France and he’s in Australia.
‘We are in different countries and of course I just want to give her a hug and be there to help her with appointments,’ the 46-year-old said.

He added: ‘I was relieved though to know that she had been for the check and it had been found early enough to get the best treatment.’
Evelyne had decided to go to breast cancer screening late last year, after receiving a letter in the mail because she was over the age of 50.
Manu said his mum has been on treatment with chemo and she’s also been through radiotherapy.
‘She has a few more sessions to go… She’s lucky, they got it really early,’ he added.

In May, Manu told The Daily Telegraph that it was his mother who first sparked his love for cooking and was an inspiration to him over the years.
‘My mother really gave me the love of cooking. She taught my sister and me how to create so many dishes in our kitchen,’ he said.
He added: ‘Much of the inspiration for my first cookbook, Manu’s French Kitchen, was from recipes Mum cooked or taught me to cook over the years.’
