Marcelo Bielsa confirmed as new Leeds manager as Championship side pull off ambitious deal

  • Leeds United are set to confirm Marcelo Bielsa as their latest manager
  • He is due to fly over next Saturday from Argentina to finalise the move
  • The former Lille boss is said to have watched every game from last season  

Leeds United are set to confirm Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager. 

Bielsa has been the club’s preferred candidate to take charge at Elland Road since Paul Heckingbottom was relieved of his duties last month.

The Argentine, who would be the club’s highest paid manager in their history, was said to be seeking assurances over transfer policy but is ready to sign a deal to take charge.

The 62-year-old manager has genuine pedigree having previously managed clubs in his native Argentina, Spain, France, as well as Chile’s national side.

Bielsa has been out of work since December after being sacked by Lille following a run of three wins from 13 games.
