March Madness: Texas survives No. 10 seed Penn State 71-66 to reach first Sweet Sixteen since 2008

Texas survives No. 10 seed Penn State 71-66 to reach first Sweet Sixteen since 2008… as Dylan Disu sets school’s single-game tournament record for field goals previously held by Kevin Durant!

Texas survived a late comeback by Penn State to win 71-66 and advance in the NCAA Tournament, led by a game-high 28 points from forward Dylan Disu.

Texas led by eight at halftime and appeared to be in control in the second half until a 10-0 run gave the Nittany Lions a three-point lead with under five minutes to play.

However, the Longhorns then responded with a 10-0 run of their own – including eight points from Disu – as they regained control of the game and hung on for the win.

Disu made history in the win, setting a school record with 14 field goals, while bringing down 10 rebounds as well.

That record tops marks set by school legends Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge.

Texas will play the winner of the Xavier-Pitt matchup next week in the Sweet Sixteen.

Dylan Disu was massive for Texas down the stretch as he finished with 28 points
