Marcia Hines slams Seven’s embarrassing on-air fail… after being rushed to hospital during Australian Idol taping

Marcia Hines has slammed Channel Seven over an embarrassing fail following her shock health scare.

The 70-year-old’s name was misspelled as ‘Marcian Hines’ in a network report after she collapsed in her dressing room ahead of the Australian Idol final on Sunday.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the fan favourite shared a screen grab of the cringe-worthy gaffe.

In the amusing post, Marcia added a filter giving her the appearance of a green, three-eyed ‘martian’. 

The veteran singer also added an animated flying saucer to the story and used the spooky theme from the X-Files as a soundtrack.

It comes after WSFM radio host Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones shared the Channel Seven mistake with Marcia.

‘No doubt the new spelling of her name would’ve come as a huge shock! P.S get well soon Marcia!!’ he said in a message to the star.

Followers responded with amusement to Seven’s error, and were quick to send messages of support to Marcia on Jones’ post.

‘Didn’t know there was a Marcia the Marcian,’ said one fan.

‘Her coworkers can’t even spell her name!!’ added another, referring to the fact the error had occurred on the same network that airs Idol. 

Another follower joked: ‘Any relation to the tennis player Venusian Williams.’

Marcia made headlines on Sunday after being being rushed to hospital following a ‘medical emergency’.

The veteran performer collapsed in her dressing room on the set of the reality series ahead of the broadcast and injured her head in the fall.

A source tells Daily Mail Australia Hines was ‘set to perform’ on the show before collapsing and was taken to hospital via ambulance.

And on Monday Marcia returned to Australian Idol and addressed her absence at the start of the grand finale episode.

However, Hines had a gash on her head that she had sustained in her fall, that has been stitched closed.

‘I feel fine. I want to thank everybody who reached out towards me. I do appreciate it,’ she said addressing the audience and viewers.

‘And you guys need to know – I couldn’t have missed this for the world. I couldn’t have.’
