  • France international Marcus Thuram has signed five-year deal with Inter Milan
  • The 25-year-old rejected several offers to remain at Borussia Monchengladbach
  • Thurman’s World Cup performances attracted interest from the Premier League

Marcus Thuram has agreed a deal to join Inter Milan after his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expired.

The 25-year-old was Die Fohlen’s top scorer last season, netting sixteen times in all competitions as Daniel Farke’s side finished tenth in the German top flight.

As he entered the final year of his deal at the Borussia Park, the Bundesliga club made several offers in a bid to keep Thuram, but the player refused, instead opting to test his options in the transfer window.

Thuram’s availability this summer had led to a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the forward, with Manchester United in particular showing an interest.

However, Inter ultimately secured Thuram’s signature, with the France international signing a five-year contract with the club that will keep him at the San Siro until 2028.

The move will see Thuram make his Serie A debut, the league in which his father Lilian Thuram spent a decade in, plying his trade for Parma and Juventus between 1996 and 2006.

The younger Thuram began his career in his native France, making his Ligue 2 debut with Sochaux in 2015 after coming through the club’s youth ranks.

Thuram then spent a pair of seasons in the French top flight with Guingamp, finishing latter campaign as top scorer as the club reached the final of the Coupe de la Ligue despite finishing bottom of Ligue 1.

A four season spell in the Bundesliga followed, with Thuram being named the competition’s Rookie of the Month three times during his maiden season.

These performances also saw Thuram called up to make his senior debut for Les Blues in 2020, and he featured as Didier Deschamps’ side reached the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
