Maren Morris reveals what she looks for in a romantic partner while ‘enjoying dating for the first time’ after Ryan Hurd divorce

If she re-enters the dating world, Maren Morris refuses to settle.

The Grammy Award winner, 34, said she’s looking for ‘a spectacularly impressive individual’ as she opened up to People about getting back out there after her divorce from Ryan Hurd.

‘I think pouring myself into another person is probably not a healthy way of going about things,’ she explained. I think it shifts the expectations and power and entitlement a lot.

‘I just have to put 100 percent into myself, and you truly have to be a spectacularly impressive individual to add something to my life because — and I don’t mean to sound full of myself — but the life that I’ve built, I am really, really happy with,’ added Morris.

She and Hurd, 37, were married from 2018 until their divorce was settled in January, and they share 4-year-old son Hayes Andrew.

‘I love my career, I love my baby, I love my home, I love my friends,’ said Morris. ‘Those are all things that matter to me, and those are self-made.

‘I only will allow someone to come into my life if they amplify any of it. They can’t be a net negative. They can’t drain my resources, and I mean that in every sense of the word. Financially, emotionally, spiritually.’

Morris emphasized, ‘You truly have to have your s— together to be any part of my life at this point.’

The Humble Quest artist noted she has to ‘protect my heart,’ adding: ‘I think there’s less pressure to make anything spark or happen, it’s just like I’m enjoying dating for the first time.

‘Nothing crazy has happened yet, it’s just mostly been like OK, I can still do this, I guess, and meet a stranger and connect through conversation,’ explained Morris. ‘That’s tougher than you’d think.’

She raved it’s the ‘perfect moment to be dating,’ adding, ‘My rules are just you have to be really spectacular to push me over.’

‘This feels like an amazing journey of discovery, and also the heartbreak of the death of a relationship and what fun and joy you find in the aftermath of a trauma or a tragedy like that,’ said Morris.
