It’s landed her an Oscar nomination for her role as disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding.
And star of I, Tonya, Margot Robbie, positively shone as she walked the red carpet for the film’s UK premiere at the Curzon Mayfair Cinema in London on Thursday evening.
The blonde actress, 27, looked every inch the movie star as she stepped out in a floor-length gown, dripping in silver, black and white sequins – clearly a nod to her skater character – a role she told MailOnline she’d never have been able to play if she hadn’t taken matters into her own hands.

The Wolf Of Wall Street star, who produced the movie herself, said: ‘If I didn’t produce this film, I would have never been offered this role. It was a gamble but it paid off.
‘I definitely don’t think anybody would have given me this role if I hadn’t gone after it and I just wasn’t prepared to wait another 10 years for someone to happen to offer me a role like this.’
She admitted: ‘It was a difficult script to make from a producerial point of view, it had a lot of challenges and you were never going to get a tonne of money for something so unconventional.
‘It’s the Olympics, it spans over four decades and there’s a lot of things that make it expensive, it was a period script. It was a huge undertaking as new producers. It was amazing and I think taking a gamble like that can pay off.’
A dramatic look: The Australian blonde looked the epitome of sleek in the dress, which covered her lithe arms and long pins, falling dramatically to the pink floor
Zebra-like: The dress featured stripes, strips and paneling of black, silver and white, which shimmered in the premiere lights
Sleek: She swept her golden tresses into a dead-straight side bob and smiled lightly for the cameras

Margot enjoyed a glass of champagne with her husband Tom Ackerley, whom she produced I, Tonya with, after the red carpet.
He was seen sharing a moment with his wife before walking the carpet and was seen to talk calmly to her to relax her nerves.
Margot was joined on the red carpet by co-star Allison Janney who appears alongside her in the biopic.

Animated: Margot forged a bond with real-life Tonya while making the movie – even bringing the former Olympian to the Golden Globes as her date last month
She told MailOnline: ‘I’ve put a lot of pressure on myself to win the Oscar, I don’t want to disappoint my family.
‘Every time I win something, I’m sure I’m going to lose the next one. I’m very nervous and I feel a lot of pressure, I don’t want to disappoint people.
‘It’s almost as if you want to win for them rather than yourself because it means so much to them, and me too. ‘
The stars of Dancing On Ice were also in attendance. The likes of Brooke Vincent, Jake Quickenden and Candice Brown all walked the red carpet, having tried their own hand at figure-skating lately on the ITV show.

The Aussie beauty told James Corden on his chat show recently: ‘OMG, she was so much fun to have there.
‘Tonya anyway is very unapologetic about who she is and that’s kind of liberating sometimes, especially if you are at a fancy event because she just was not afraid to go up to anyone and say hi and get a picture,’
The Suicide Squad star was impressed at how unfazed Tonya was at the star-studded event.
‘She was like, “Oh, there’s Meryl. I’m gonna go say hi.”‘ Margo added.

The 2018 Oscars are expected to be more explosive than 2017’s envelope-gate fiasco, putting a spotlight on the best films and honouring those involved in creating them.
Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water is up for Best Picture as well as 12 other awards, while Dunkirk follows with eight nods and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, with seven.
The Best Director Oscar could be given to Greta Gerwig for Lady Bird or Steven Spielberg for The Post, but the directors of Call Me By Your Name and Darkest Hour also received nods for this accolade.
Back in the spotlight: Cheryl Baker and Dan Whiston – who have recently gotten the boot from Dancing On Ice – were there to grasp at some attention
Looking sharp: Candice Brown wowed in a fitted black dress and bright red heels
The boys: Jake Quickenden and Kem Cetinay walked the carpet, looking suave
Ice stars: Max Evans and Ale Izquierdo arrived together at the event
Partners: Mark Hanretty and Maria Sergejeva were in attendance
Making an entrance: Tonya Pinkins and Perri Shakes-Drayton came to watch the film
The 2018 Oscars are already expected to be a little different from past Academy Award ceremonies after Hollywood became destabilised by sexual harassment claims, gender pay equality concerns and the role of women in film over the course of the year.
In addition to this, the #OscarsSoWhite social media campaign that began in 2015 and reappeared after subsequent Oscars may make a comeback, despite Mary J Blige being the first person in the history of the Academy Awards to be nominated for a song and acting award in one year.
This controversy and the reemergence of the #MeToo movement in the lead up to the 2018 Oscars has also resulted in Kevin Spacey being replaced by Christopher Plummer, who was then nominated for awards, James Franco being entirely snubbed and Casey Affleck withdrawing from presenting the Best Actress award.
