Margot Robbie reveals huge career news to cement her as the world’s biggest star after working with Chanel for six years

Margot Robbie has announced an exciting new career milestone after being an ambassador for Chanel for more than six years.

The Australian actress, 34, is the new face of the French designer fashion house’s most well-known fragrance Chanel N°5.

The Barbie star has been an ambassador for Chanel since 2018 and was the face of Chanel Gabrielle perfume in 2019.

‘I think Chanel N°5 is one of the most iconic fragrances in the world. It’s incredible to be a part of it,’ Margot said of her newest appointment.

‘There’s such an impressive lineage of women who’ve been associated with the fragrance over the years. I am very honoured to be joining that long list of incredible talents.’

Margot is following the footsteps of other notable stars like Marilyn Monroe and Brad Pitt, but she is not the first Australian actress to be the face of the iconic fragrance.

Nicole Kidman famously fronted the brand’s perfume in her 2004 advertising film for Chanel N°5 ‘Le Film’, which was directed by Baz Luhrmann.

Speaking with WWD, Margot added: ‘I’ve just always known about Chanel N°5… It’s iconic and an iconic brand.’

‘It’s that thing that you always associate with absolute height of luxury. At least that’s how I always felt about Chanel.

‘Now I’m in the Chanel family; I associate with more personal memories and things that I’ve gotten to do.’

Margot signed a deal with Chanel in 2018 and has almost exclusively worn pieces from the luxury brand on the red carpet since.

While no details of a formal contract have ever been made public, some speculated her deal with the brand had come to an end after she wore an emerald green Bottega Veneta dress to the Governors Awards in November, 2022.

However, the Babylon star returned with a Chanel look at the Golden Globes months later in January 2023.

Chanel N°5 is one of the world’s bestselling perfumes and is a timeless classic.

The perfume was created in 1920 by Ernest Beaux and has since been adapted by Henri Robert and Jacques Polge.

It was released in 1921 by designer Coco Chanel and and it has remained consistently popular.

Coco Chanel was insistent that no other perfumer would be able to copy the scent, which was achieved by keeping the formula a secret and too expensive to imitate, according to Beaux.

The fragrance has been endorsed by several celebrities, including Marilyn, Nicole, Gisele Bundchen and Catherine Deneuve.

Marilyn is perhaps its most famous fan, famously saying she sleeps in nothing but Chanel N°5.

‘What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel N°5 of course,’ she said.

The icon didn’t actually become the face of the perfume until 2013, over 50 years after her death, when she was pictured in an ad campaign.
