Mariah Carey rebounds from last year’s Rockin’ Eve debacle

Mariah Carey after a disastrous live performance last year redeemed herself on Sunday’s live broadcast of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC.

The 47-year-old pop diva gave a flawless performance amid frigid temperatures at Times Square in New York City.

Her live appearance 12 months ago ended in disaster after a myriad of problems left her visibly upset and she stopped singing, despite a pre-recorded track playing in the background.

Mariah last year skipped the soundcheck and let a stand-in do it.

TMZ reported that Mariah completed rehearsal this time without any issues.

Mariah treated the Times Square audience to some of her biggest hits from the 1990s.

She hit the stage looking glamorous in a white fur coat over a long golden gown.

Mariah opened up with her 1990 hit song Vision Of Love.

The singer showed just a hint of her diva reputation after her first song.

‘I’m just going to take a sip of tea if they’ll let me. They told me there would be tea,’ she said, but no hot drink materialized.

‘Ugh. It’s a disaster. OK, well, we’ll just have to rough it. I’m going to be just like everybody else with no hot tea,’ she said stoically.

Mariah dedicated her next number to people ‘who make this a better place, a more united planet’.

The singer then launched into her 1993 ballad Hero with backup singers in white robes behind her.
