Mario Balotelli has brazenly hit back at critics after he was filmed falling in the street while drunk with friends and questioned why he was being ‘judged’ for the incident.

The former Manchester City star has never been far from controversy during his playing career and is currently relaxing after a decent season playing in Turkey.

Balotelli was caught unawares as he walked down the road after enjoying drinks with friends and fell to the floor while another person attempted to help him back up.

He struggled to get to his feet and fell over again while getting entangled with his entourage as Balotelli lay sprawled in the middle of the road net to a junction.

Concerned onlookers watched on as they spotted the former Italy international lying face down on the tarmac before he eventually got back to his feet.

Balotelli then ran out of view of the camera and has now issued a damning response to those criticising him for enjoying a night out with friends during the off-season.

Commenting on the viral video, Balotelli told people to ‘get serious’ and insisted Italy’s elimination from Euro 2024 deserved far more attention than his evening antics.

‘I saw the video where I fall to the ground with my friends, where we roll, wave, run, he said while cutting a relaxed figure in a video on Instagram.

‘I don’t see the problem of having an evening with friends, having fun and joking around without hurting anyone.

‘I have to be judged for what? Why didn’t you show all the photos and videos I took with people? I was helpful with everyone.

‘And instead, after an Italy like this, the news that needs to come out is that I’m drunk… Come on, let’s get serious.’

Balotelli is in the rare situation of not having a set return date for pre-season due to his status as a free agent.
