Mark Beretta ‘leans on his Sunrise co-stars and David Koch’ for support following his heartbreaking split with his wife Rachel

He confirmed his split with his wife Rachel after 22 years of marriage earlier this month.

And Mark Beretta has been leaning on his Sunrise family for support during this difficult time.

‘They are a tight-knit group over there at Sunrise, always have been. David Koch has always had a hand on Beretts’ back. He has been a tower of strength,’ an insider told this week’s New Idea magazine.

‘Everyone has been incredibly supportive. They are really sad about the split as they all love Rach.

‘The good news around Mark’s dad’s health has given everyone plenty of reasons to smile.’

Meanwhile, Beretta and his ex remain close friends and are committed to being there for their children Ava and Daniel and grandson Arlo. 

Earlier this month, the Sunrise star and his former partner, who married in 2001, confirmed they quietly parted ways in recent months in a statement. 

‘At the start of the year, after a great deal of reflection and 22 years of marriage, Rach and I came to the conclusion that a separation was best for us,’ Beretta told Daily Mail Australia through a Seven spokesperson.

‘We remain good friends, and our two children and grandchild remain our focus and priority as we move forward with love, dignity, and respect.’

The couple, who met in 1999, share two children, daughter Ava, 19, and son Dan, 16. 

There were signs of trouble leading up the split, with the pair placing their Mosman home on the market in February.

Meanwhile, Beretta revealed he has had some good news amid this difficult time, and posted on Instagram last week that his father had won his battle with cancer. 

The sports reporter made the incredible announcement last week when he thanked medical professionals for ‘saving my dad’s life’.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, the journalist shared a joyful selfie of himself smiling on the beach alongside a lengthy message about the happy news.
