‘I couldn’t be bothered running to the shop for some milk, so I sent my husband, with the last words, “see if they have any good bargains while you’re there”,’ she wrote to the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group.
Krystal joked and said her husband has claimed himself as the ‘bargain king of the house’.
It’s become known the best time to shop for bargains at supermarkets is after 7pm or just before the store closes.
The social media post was quickly flooded with comments from those who ‘couldn’t believe’ the reduced prices of the meat.
‘No way!!!! I only wish. Honestly this would be live changing to have prices like that. The money I could save,’ one woman wrote.
But a Coles employee offered her advice and revealed the best time to shop for bargains.
‘Coles always marks down the meat that can’t be sold the next day late in the evening (usually after 8pm). I work these shifts and regularly come home with bargains like that,’ she said.
Other shoppers praised Krystal’s husband for having such a keen eye for markdowns.
‘He is the winner!!! I haven’t seen anything this good since I lived in Sydney 14 years ago,’ one woman wrote.
‘Omg wow, I have never seen things this cheap,’ another added, and a third wrote: ‘What a wonderful shop, I am so jealous.’
