Married at First Sight Australia 2024 delivers huge ratings in the U.K. after dominating Down Under

The controversial 2024 season of Nine’s Married at First Sight has been a smashing success in the U.K.

Broadcast on Channel 4’s sister station E4, the Australian version of the dating show franchise pulled in a total of 1.6million viewers over one week.

The show, which finished its run on the network on April 30, replicated its success Down Under in the U.K., becoming E4’s biggest hit so far in 2024.

According to TV Tonight, MAFS Australia was also the highest rating show across all digital and pay TV channels in the UK in two key age groups: the 16-34s and the 25-54s.

The figures do not include viewers watching the show on devices like desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and phones.

MAFS Australia, meanwhile, came second to MAFS U.K. in total viewing numbers.

The Aussie version scored its greatest success as E4’s top show so far in 2024 in live to air and consolidated ratings (which refers to the total numbers of viewer watching.)

MAFS Australia had its biggest audience among 25-54-year-olds with 950,000 viewers tuning in over seven days.

E4, is aimed at 16-34-year-olds, and is multi-channel of U.K. commercial broadcaster Channel 4.

In Australia, MAFS finale, broadcast in April, scored a whopping national average audience of 1,731,000.

It comes after this year’s cast of Married At First Sight have been left disappointed having failed to find fame after appearing on Nine’s ratings juggernaut.

The 2024 participants are ‘furious’ that they haven’t built up a social media following during their time on the show and are now frantically finding ways to earn money after quitting their regular jobs when production was underway.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, viewers of the Channel Nine series have ‘failed to warm to the participants like in previous years’ and most cast members haven’t gained enough social media followers to become full-time influencers.

A source told the outlet that many brides and grooms were ‘banking on’ their television appearance to become famous.

The only star to receive a significant growing fanbase is Byron Bay native and fan-favourite Lucinda Light, who boasts 139,000 Instagram followers as of March 19.
