Married At First Sight star Brent Vitiello reveals what couples retreat was like behind closed doors

Former Married At First Sight star Brent Vitiello has dished on what really happens behind the scenes during the couples retreat.

The hospitality manager, 33, revealed a producer would follow the cast members around the accommodation to pounce on any drama that could’ve potentially boiled over, he told Yahoo! Lifestyle.

Brent, who was chosen to be Tamara Djordjevic’s groom on the ninth season last year, has been an open book on how the series was approached from a filmmaking standpoint.

He admitted there was a lot the public doesn’t get to see which could’ve painted a different picture of relationships.

‘Most of the time there is a camera there or at least one kind of following just to see if anything’s going on,’ he said.

‘If something pops off, they’ll make a call and someone will come running in or someone will pull a phone out to get whatever else.’

According to Brent, Mornings were spared as producers usually waited for the group to congregate later on in the day.

He said the group would wake up early and begin their exercise training before they were called to be fitted with their microphones before filming.

‘Once everyone’s fully interacting, which is usually when food comes out and everyone comes together, they mike you up just in case because everyone starts talking about their issues and it all starts,’ he added.

Brent was thankful he was given the opportunity to spend time with his fellow grooms outside of the experiment and during functions within the show.

A lot of drama had been building up over time prior to the couples retreat, and so the boys wanted to make their escape from it.

‘We were playing cards, doing magic tricks, pranking each other; it was just so much fun,’ he said.

In fact, Brent said he laughed the hardest while on the retreat, but also went through a dark time as well.

‘Me and Tamara wouldn’t talk unless it was a fight, it was bad. Lots of screaming at me and it was intense,’ he added.

Brent found it emotionally and hard for him once their relationship had ended at the end of the season finale’s vow renewal ceremony.

‘It was a bit hard to watch, but then I understood how they were doing it because of where it kind of went at the end,’ he said.

Brent recently  revealed he’s back with his ex-girlfriend Taylor Davey, only weeks after he confirmed they’d broken up ‘a while ago’ following a whirlwind romance.

He shared the news on Nova’s Back to Reality podcast, hosted by Love Island stars Al Perkins and Taku Chimwaza.

When asked if he would ever consider going on The Bachelor, the restaurant manager hesitated before confessing he had got back with 22-year-old Taylor.

‘I mean, without saying too much, I’m basically with my partner again,’ he said.

‘She’s moving overseas. So if I had said yes, I’d probably be murdered. But if I was completely single and going for it, would I consider it? Most probably.’

The couple began dating in May 2022 after Brent failed to find love on MAFS with his ‘wife’ Tamara Djordjevic.
