Married At First Sight stars Andrea Thompson and Timothy Smith address romance rumours after they were seen enjoying a sleepover

Married At First Sight stars Andrea Thompson and Timothy Smith have addressed speculation they are dating after walking away from their partners during the final vows.

The couple sparked romance rumours when Andrea posted a telling video this week of Timothy appearing to enjoy a sleepover at her house.

Andrea, 51, has now denied the pair are in a relationship, telling New Idea they are simply ‘beautiful friends’.

‘There’s nothing romantic there,’ she said.

‘I adore him, and he adores me. He’s been a rock to me at times,’ Andrea added.

She also said the ‘best part of the experiment’ for her was the lifelong friends she’s made with some of the cast, including Timothy’s ex Lucinda.

In the clip posted to Instagram this week, Andrea was seen watching Tori Adams and Jack Dunkley’s final vows with her daughter, before turning the camera around to show Timothy sound asleep on the couch.

‘We’re watching Jack and Tori’s final vows, Indi and I,’ she said in the video.

‘With Timmy. And he’s so into it he’s fallen asleep. He’s that bored.’

During the episode, Lucinda revealed what was at the heart of their struggles.

‘The steel gates went up pretty quickly. I felt pretty uncomfortable and I felt a bit unwelcome, there was a couple of incidents that happened that I felt really disappointed in,’ she told the relationship experts.

Timothy acknowledged his lacklustre effort, saying, ‘I didn’t go into homestay with the best attitude.’

Lucinda grew frustrated as she described the lukewarm efforts on Timothy’s part.

‘Tim’s never initiated a date, really, for me,’ she lamented. ‘Like minimum chips with a drizzling of gravy.’

In an emotional stand before the experts, Timothy said he found deep emotional exploration ‘uncomfortable’ and ‘overwhelming’.

‘And the more that you dig into it, the more I retreat. And I need that space,’ he said.

Timothy also decided to exit the experiment, but said he hoped the pair could be friends.

Meanwhile, just weeks ago Andrea called time on her relationship with scarf aficionado Richard Sauerman.

Shortly after, she lifted the lid on her marriage to Richard behind closed doors after sensationally quitting the experiment.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, the photographer said she decided to end things with Richard because the couple’s constant fighting started to make her ‘feel crazy’.

She added that watching their arguments back on TV was ‘triggering’.

‘Last week was very traumatic for me watching that. Your body actually feels everything you’re feeling again, so it’s been a lot and it’s been sad,’ she explained.

Despite the on-screen drama, Andrea insisted her feelings for Richard were genuine.

‘I never said I wasn’t into Richie. I’d always said ”I like you, I’m here, I’m trying”. But of course I would pull back when boundaries were crossed time and time again,’ she said.

One of the major issues Andrea had with Richard was his lack of respect for personal boundaries.

Despite the turbulent relationship, Andrea said the pair have reached a peaceful understanding.

‘We’re good with each other…I still care about him, and I know he still cares about me,’ she explained.
