Married At First Sight stars Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding reveal why their season was so much better than the 2023 series – and what producers need to do to save the show

Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding have some thoughts about the 2023 season of Married At First Sight.

The former reality stars, who appeared on the show in 2022, say their series was better because the contestants were in lockdown.

Filmed in 2021, the ninth season was in production during the Covid pandemic lockdowns, and the pair believe that producers can rescue future seasons by keeping the contestants isolated.

‘Our season was so good because we were actually in lockdown. Our rules were a lot stricter. We had security guards at our door,’ Ella told Yahoo Lifestyle.

‘MAFS, they need to be in lockdown, the storylines stay, everything happens on camera,’ she added.

Domenica agreed, ‘It seems crazy when you are in it, but look how it made for good TV’.

Ella suggested the show take a break from being on the air to ‘refresh’ and Domenica was in agreement.

‘If they come back next year, I would like to see them living in different places and only come together at the dinner parties,’ Domenica said.

It comes after Dom called out season ten bride Lyndall Grace for trying to unfairly gain the sympathy of her co-stars.

The 28-year-old revealed on her Sit With Us podcast that Lyndall’s behaviour on MAFS ‘s**ts’ her and she sees it as dishonest.

‘I see Lyndall playing the victim. Like, “Oh, he didn’t want to hug me”. B**ch, go and get a f**king pillow,’ she sniped.

‘Lyndall s**ts me and I don’t know why. I just don’t trust her,’ she added.

Domenica went on to say Bronte Schofield, 28, was also guilty of the same behaviour.

Co-host Ella, 28, then said the cast’s antics on this year’s season of MAFS had prevented her from enjoying the show.

‘I just don’t take the whole cast seriously. I literally cannot watch this year’s season of MAFS,’ she said.
