Steve Burley’s quiff has left Married At First Sight fans scratching their heads.

While the 51-year-old barbershop owner always looks perfectly groomed on the show, there’s one unusual detail about his hair that has baffled viewers.

He has been accused of ‘purposely’ receding his hairline so it looks straighter, with many speculating that he’s trying to look younger.

‘Hold up, does he recede his own hairline?’ one fan tweeted on Sunday, after noticing that Steve appeared to have two hairlines on his forehead.

‘I just realised that Steve shaves in a new hairline… what?’ another person asked.

‘Yikes. I’m not really sure what’s going on with Steve’s hairline but it can’t be unseen,’ a third viewer wrote.

But Daily Mail Australia can reveal the simple explanation behind Steve’s hairstyle.

He chooses to shave back his V-shaped hairline, sometimes known as a widow’s peak, so it’s evenly straight, before slicking it into a fashionable quiff.

Steve said that he ‘now regrets it’ after all the speculation about his appearance.

Now that MAFS has finished filming, Steve spends his days managing Kingsman Barbers in Melbourne’s inner south-east.

While he doesn’t cut hair himself anymore, he speaks with customers and sometimes enjoys a game of pool with them while they wait.

During Sunday night’s commitment ceremony, Steve chose to stay with his ‘wife’, Mishel Karen, while she voted to leave.

Per the rules of the experiment, the couple must now live together for another week.

‘When I wrote my vows, I said too many people give up too quickly. Let’s not be those people. I think there is something worth fighting for here,’ he said.
