Married At First Sight’s Hayley Vernon shares worrying Instagram post about her mental health after quitting the adult industry: ‘I’m not OK’

Hayley Vernon has opened up about her mental health struggles in a raw Instagram post shared with her followers on Thursday.

It follows the former Married At First Sight bride’s decision to step away from her adult career – and has sparked concerns about her wellbeing.

In the emotional message, Vernon expressed fears she might ‘crumble’ under the weight of the recent life transition.

‘I’m fearful. And it’s making me upset. I don’t crumble over much but fear of loss is my weak point, from someone who has come from nothing it worries me and today it’s got the best of me,’ she wrote.

‘Sometimes even the “strong” people need a hand,’ the 37-year-old added.

‘I’m changing and have changed my entire life, it’s for the better but it’s also petrifying to do alone – funny because I’ve done everything alone. Even reading this back I know that I always land on my feet.’

The reality TV star continued, ‘Today I’m not ok. Today I’m upset, I’m a little scared and I’m trying my best to know that I’m not alone. I’m having to rely on other people and so far it’s proving difficult.’

In another post, she admitted her mood was ‘gloomy’ and ‘there’s been tears’ as well as reiterating that she was ‘not ok’.

It comes after Hayley, who has spent the past four years working as a porn star and high-class escort, quit the industry last month.

During the lengthy clip, Hayley branded the sex industry as ‘soul destroying’ and said she would be ‘ceasing all adult work’, effective immediately.

‘It just feels like a big breath out for me,’ the bodybuilder said.

‘I will not be filming any more videos for [OnlyFans]. I think I have about nine, ten releases left. I will not be engaging or solicitating [sic] myself anymore, or giving any of my being to anyone further than what I have done,’ she continued.

Hayley admitted that being an adult entertainer was always ‘so far removed’ from her real identity, adding that the industry had brought ‘so much negativity’ into her life over the years.

‘I was suffering from severe anxiety, I wasn’t certain of who I was because I was trying to be someone different. I’ve just made the decision that it does not serve myself. It’s soul destroying, I’m just going to say it,’ she lamented.

‘And I know that a lot of people are going to be like, ‘You’re a hypocrite’… But I was merely supposed to pass through this stage of my life. I was never supposed to sit in it,’ she added.

Hayley, who earned a whopping AUD$90,000 within the first month of joining the subscription website OnlyFans, explained that she only entered the industry out of desperation.

‘I got into it because I needed money during Covid, and I said to myself that I would get XYZ, and then I’d be out. And then I got greedy,’ she confessed.

‘I have never felt so free and so light in my heart since making the decision to get out of the industry,’ she went on.

Hayley also said she is now looking forward to working a normal job, and wants to use the rest of her life to help others.
