Married At First Sight’s Lauren Huntriss reveals she had skin cancer in her 20s

Married At First Sight star Lauren Huntriss has revealed she had a skin cancer scare in her 20s after discovering a growth on her nose.

Taking to Instagram, the ex-TV bride, now 31, shared a graphic post-surgery snap of what her nose looked before and after doctors removed a cancerous growth and then reconstructed it.

She said she first thought a spot on her face was simply a pimple or a wart.

‘The dermatologist noticed this spot on my nose… results came back and guess what?.. it was a skin cancer!’ the makeup artist revealed. 

‘”But I’m only 27!” I said at the time.’ 

She told her almost 100,000 followers her doctor advised her to go under the knife straight away before the growth became malignant.

She explained that she opted for Mohs surgery – a technique whereby the skin is removed layer by layer to find out whether the cancer has been removed. 

After that, a doctor performed flap repair surgery to rebuild Lauren’s nose. 

Sharing a photo of her stitched-up face, Lauren said her post-surgery appearance was upsetting, but also reminded her of how it could have ended much worse. 

‘I remember crying so much but then thinking far out I’m lucky I caught it when I did,’ she said.

Lauren ended her post by telling her followers to make sure they looked out for any signs of skin cancer.

‘Kids, adults – if you notice even the slightest change to your skin book in with a dermatologist ASAP! Don’t risk it, don’t wait or it may be too late,’ she wrote.

It comes after the former reality star recently took to Instagram to post photos showing how her physique has changed over time.

The first picture showed Lauren posing for a mirror selfie while holding up her top, and was accompanied by the caption: ‘I’ve been chubby.’ 

 In the next image, Lauren revealed a more slender figure as she posed in a leopard print mini skirt. This photo was captioned: ‘I’ve been skinny.’

A third snap showed Lauren with a very thin waist and defined abdominal muscles and was captioned: ‘I’ve had a six pack.’

Explaining her weight loss journey, Lauren added: ‘Sometimes I eat more when I’m depressed, sometimes I have no appetite because I’m anxious.

‘Sometimes I can’t exercise as much as I’d like to because of pain. Sometimes I’ve been on medication which caused me to gain weight. There have been times I chose not to eat because a boy told me I was too fat.’

Lauren was paired with Matthew Bennett on Married At First Sight, but their relationship fell apart soon after she took his virginity.
