- Mary Fowler visited Vienna and posted on Instagram
- NRL star boyfriend has been visiting her in England
Mary Fowler has left her boyfriend Nathan Cleary out of her Instagram posts as she visited one of Europe’s most picturesque cities – and there’s a very good reason why.
The 21-year-old was the hero after scoring Manchester City’s winner in their UEFA Women’s Champions League clash against St.Pölten in the Austrian capital on Wednesday night.
Fowler, 21, headed home in the 80th minute to seal a 3-2 win – after earlier posting a series of images in an Instagram story from Vienna featuring Citizens teammate Alex Greenwood.
Her photos included some historic local landmarks as well as the footballers both sampling a coffee.
On the pitch, Fowler’s fellow Matildas star Alanna Kennedy set the tone for the English side, opening the scoring in the first half with a sublime strike from 25 yards.
The defender, clearly elated with finding the back of the net, then starting miming a ‘telephone’ celebration for a goal that definitely was worth ringing home about.
Fowler was later named player of the match, with her goal ensuring City won their sixth game on the trot in what has been a brilliant start to the season for her and the club.
‘Just happy to get that win with the girls and obviously being able to help in that way with a goal feels really good,’ Fowler said.
‘I’m most proud of the girls for being able to come from behind and change that energy and get the result in the end.’

Fowler and her teammates will back up in the Women’s Super League on October 20 when they host Aston Villa.
The young gun will also look to utilise her time with Cleary, who is expected to soon return to Australia for shoulder surgery.
The footy superstar also recently opened up about his relationship in detail for the first time, explaining how Fowler has changed his life.
‘I’ve loved it, it’s all I ever could have dreamed of in having a partner, to be honest,’ he told Channel Nine’s Marlee and Me podcast.
‘It’s just added new perspective but it’s also added an extra layer there that when things are going good you want to share with them and want to talk about it and when things aren’t going good, they’re there too.
‘Super supportive and I’ve absolutely loved it. It’s just a great addition to life, to be honest, and made me really happy. Love wins.’
Meanwhile, Matildas star Caitlin Foord was on target for Arsenal as they outclassed Norwegian outfit Vålerenga 4-1 in their UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture.
Foord continued the sharp form which brought her the club’s player of the month award in September with a poacher’s goal after the Valerenga keeper parried a 29th minute shot at the Emirates Stadium in London.
