Massimiliano Allegri ‘rejects £17m-a-year offer from Al-Hilal’ saying ‘he is focused on Juventus’

Massimiliano Allegri ‘rejects £17m-a-year offer from Al-Hilal’ claiming ‘he is only focused on Juventus’ as Saudi Arabian sides step up attempts to lure top European talents

Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly rejected an ‘important, verbal proposal from Al-Hilal’ and has re-asserted his commitment to Juventus.

It comes as Saudi Arabian sides have been making waves in the transfer market, with several big names being linked with moves to the Middle Eastern state.

In the last few days, Al-Hilal have signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Chelsea in a £20million move, Ruben Neves for £47m and have also been linked with a £40m move for Alvaro Morata, Everton’s Demarai Gray and Manchester City’s Champions League winning midfielder Bernardo Silva.

It appears they’re not slowing down in their attempts to secure some of the biggest names in football, with Mail Sport recently reported that the Saudi Pro League side had made a ploy to try and coax the 55-year-old away from Juventus, by offering him the chance to quadruple his salary.

It is also understood that he was due ‘to meet officials from the club in Mote Carlo to discuss a potential move’ but the Italian manager, whose contract in Turin will expire in 2025, has turned down the offer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on Twitter, the Italian journalist said: ‘Massimiliano Allegri has rejected an important, verbal proposal from Al-Hilal – £17m (€20m) salary per-year until June 2025.

‘Allegri was never in contact with Al-Nassr — the only club was Al-Hilal who made an improved bid on Thursday. He said no as he’s only focused on Juventus.’

The Juventus boss is currently in his second spell at the Allianz Stadium, after he snubbed an offer to join Real Madrid to rejoin the Old Lady back in 2021 after being sacked by the Bianconeri in 2019 despite winning 11 trophies in five seasons.

Since re-uniting with the club, Juventus have largely underperformed, with the club having failed to pick up a competitive trophy since 2020.

Questions have also been mounting over Allegri’s tenure at the club, with fans unhappy with the style of football and journalists also claiming that he ‘only plays for 1-0 wins’.

Back in September, Juventus suffered a shock defeat by newly promoted side Monza and after the match, Allegri was given a police escort to his car.

The former centre-midfielder, who notably spent time at Napoli, hit back at those fans telling them to ‘shut up’ in a furious rant after his players were booed by their own supporters after a win earlier this year against Fiorentina.

Even so, Juventus have largely failed to reach their heights of old, with Allegri failing to guide them back to European glory, making two Champions League finals with the club in 2015 and 2017, but failing to claim European football’s biggest honour.

This season Juve have struggled too, and after being awarded a 15 points deduction in the wake of an investigation into their transfer dealings, the club finished seventh in the Serie A standings.

Allegri has asserted that he wants to stay at the club, but Mail Sport reported back in May that Juve were ‘considering his future’ following another season without a trophy.
