A wild street brawl took place in Dunbar Street on the afternoon of July 22, 2023, which saw 30 men, women and children pelt rocks at each other.

Many were also carrying hammers and machetes.

Long-term resident Peter Walker said at the time he had watched the alarming events unfold from his home, but was too afraid to leave the house.

‘One bloke had a knife and the bloke had a hammer and one had a long pole,’ he said.

‘Police arrived and they blocked off the street and people backed up and went the other way.

‘There were kids and women and dogs and they were pelting rocks plus this bloke with a knife and hammers.’
