Massive crash on M1 at Beenleigh between truck and bus full of people injures eight and causes traffic chaos

Eight people are injured, including two seriously, after a bus and truck collided on a busy Queensland motorway. 

Emergency services were called to the M1 near the Beenleigh exit ramp between Brisbane and the Gold Coast about midday Wednesday.

It is understood the bus had a full load of passengers with ambulance officers assessing sixty people and treating at least eight – two of whom were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic is affected with two of the four lanes closed and cleanup crews attending to a fluid leak from the bus.

‘Drivers are advised of possible delays on the M1 southbound at Beenleigh due to a collision between a bus and truck,’ police said in a statement.

‘Motorists are advised to use alternative routes where able.’

The truck driver was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

While one of the bus passengers, a teenager, was transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital with serious head and leg injuries. It is understood they are also stable.
