One Florida fisherman made friends with an unlikely predator when he managed to film a great white shark that was looming around his boat for more than half-an-hour.

Captain Kyle Rosenblatt had been trying to catch a swordfish off the coast of Jupiter, Florida, on Sunday when he came across the nearly 14-ft long shark.

The brief clip shows the large predator lingering around the boat as chunks of fish bait float in the water, roughly 20 miles off the Jupiter Inlet.

It does swim really close to Rosenblatt’s boat, but doesn’t seem to be acting in any aggressive manner.

Rosenblatt shared that the large sharks stayed around for about 30 to 40 minutes, not bothering him during that time.

The footage ends with a brave Rosenblatt sticking his phone into the water, so he could get great shots of the chance encounter.

According to the International Shark Attack File, Florida accounts for the most shark attacks in the United States.

Last year, there were 21 recorded shark attacks in Florida with no fatalities. The largest number of Florida shark attacks was recorded in 2016 with 32 non-fatal incidents.

Florida experiences the largest number of shark attacks from July to October, when the summer heat causes warmer waters and there’s more human activity.
