MasterChef contestant shares his VERY simple three-ingredient recipe for a peanut butter muffin – and it only takes less than two MINUTES to cook

A MasterChef Australia contestant has revealed how he made a three-ingredient peanut butter muffin in less than two minutes using a microwave.

Home cook Pete Campbell, who’s currently competing in the 2021 season, wowed judges Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen when he explained how the cupcake-like bread was going to be made.

‘Egg, peanut butter and sugar… I cook it in the microwave and it has the same texture as bread,’ Pete told the pair, who both appeared impressed.

To make the quick dessert, he mixed three tablespoons of peanut butter, a tablespoon of sugar and one whole egg in a bowl until well combined.

How to make peanut butter bread

INGREDIENT

3 tablespoons peanut butter

1 tablespoon sugar

1 whole egg

METHOD

Mix peanut butter, sugar and eggs in a bowl until well combine.

Transfer the mixture into a microwave-safe ramekin. 

Microwave on high eat for one-and-a-half minutes. Serve with your favourite ice cream, custard and/or fruits.

He then transferred the mixture into a ramekin.

‘Put it in the microwave for a minute-and-a-half. I pull it out, it looks great, it looks like a peanut butter muffin. It smells fantastic,’ Pete said.

‘Scientifically how it happens, I don’t know but it’s a beautiful thing.’

Pete served the bread with a peanut butter brittle, an ‘almost burnt toast’ flavoured ice cream, topped with a blueberry sauce.  

After the judges tasted the dish, Jock said: ‘The peanut butter bread was good… A great concept, a great idea, well executed.’

The recipe has since been viewed more than 200,000 times after it was re-shared on Instagram, with thousands saying they couldn’t wait to recreate the dessert at home.

‘Running to the microwave now,’ one wrote, while others described the dish as ‘magic’, ‘so clever’ and 

who already made the bread confirmed it ‘tasted so good’.

While one woman suggested: ‘Replace peanut butter with Nutella and it works too.’
