Masterchef star ‘is set to join the I’m A Celebrity lineup – despite BLASTING the show as ”puerile” and ”dumb”

Grace Dent, 50, is reportedly set to join the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! line-up and will be entering the Australian jungle later this month, despite previously blasting the show.

According to The Sun, the Masterchef star, who called the show out as ‘puerile’ and ‘dumb’ has signed a deal rumoured to be up to £100,000.

In the past, Grace has branded the show ‘a puerile venture into starvation, televised constipation and animal cruelty, abbreviated by ads for Iceland £1 curries.’

In 2012, she also admitted that she was embarrassed to watch it, saying: ‘I snap my blinds firmly shut before settling down to watch I’m a Celeb, in fear the theme tune alone devalues my property.’

A source said: ‘Masterchef fans know Grace for her withering put-downs of contestants’ food and disdain for anything less than stellar cooking.

‘But she’ll be eating humble pie in the jungle, surviving on rice and beans and taking part in Bushtucker trials.’

She will reportedly appear alongside ex politician Nigel Farage, jockey Frankie Dettori, This Morning’s Josie Gibson, Ex-EastEnder Danielle Harold, First Dates star Fred Sirieix, Made In Chelsea’s Sam Thompson and JLS singer Marvin Humes.

MailOnline have reached out to ITV and Grace’s representatives for comment.

Grace is a restaurant critic, columnist, broadcaster, author and regularly appears on BBC’s MasterChef UK.

It is coming up to a year when her father George sadly passed away following a battle with dementia.

Taking to her Instagram last year, she reminisced on their time together and how he ‘hated’ Christmas while imagining how he would celebrate the day in heaven with her late mother, also named Grace. It is unclear what age he was.

She wrote in her caption: ‘Well Dad. You pick your moments. In fairness you hated Christmas. All those folk ”popping in” when you wanted to watch Porridge Christmas Special with a glass of Lidl vin de table and your fruit and nut.

‘Thank you for mending my rollers skates and teaching me the value of a quid ❤️ I will always, at some level, be under your armpit in 1978, watching Kenny Everett. #ynwa.’

In 2020, she wrote in of his battle with dementia: ‘There is so much I want to say to Dad, but I can’t bring myself to.

‘Dementia is really awkward, not just painful and frightening, embarrassing, I don’t like to be left alone with Dad.

‘But sometimes I can see terror in his eyes.

‘Sometimes, as Dad talks nowadays, midway through a nonsensical sentence his brain catches up, and right then, he understands the total ridiculousness of what he is saying, and pure shame passes across his face.’
