MasterChef star Reynold Poernomo makes a shocking admission after losing Dessert Masters: ‘It has been quite challenging’

Dessert Masters fan favourite Reynold Poernomo was left heartbroken on Tuesday night after he lost to Gareth Whitton during the nail biting grand finale.

‘Although I may not have won, my head is still held high. My two best desserts I’ve ever done for Experiential may not have the been the best for tonight,’ he began.

He added he was eager to one day receive an award for the delicious desserts he spends hours in the kitchen making.

‘It has been quite challenging to even gain the attention of the food media in Australia. Going eight years of never being reviewed or winning an award.

‘It’s the reason why I’ve chosen to come back on and put myself out there for the world to see as well as challenge myself amongst peers.

‘I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity and hold great pride being a self-taught chef, so once again thank you all.’

Many of Reynold’s celebrity friends were quick to offer him their words of support amid this difficult time.

‘You are a living embodiment of what can happen when focus, passion and drive converge. We are lucky to have had you set Dessert Masters on its own special course,’ wrote Dessert Masters judge Melissa Leong.

‘Well done legend! Amazing watching you do your things as always,’ added MasterChef contestant Michael Weldon.

He beat out fan favourites Jess Liemantara and Poernomo for the top honour.

However, Gareth’s win did not sit well with all viewers, many of whom took to social media to vent their frustrations.

Reynold, who has been a fan favourite since his initial appearance on the culinary scene on MasterChef Australia in 2020, once again missed out on the top spot, causing a stir among his loyal followers.
