Matt Lauer enjoys a boat trip with his two of his kids as his estranged wife files for divorce

Matt Lauer enjoyed a boat trip with his two of his children Wednesday as estranged wife Annette Roque officially filed for divorce from the disgraced sex pest after twenty years of marriage.

The model, 53, filed papers with the Suffolk County Court, New York, on Tuesday, to end her marriage to the former Today Show host, according reports.

But Lauer, who was fired from his presenting post in 2017 amid sexual misconduct allegations, didn’t seem to have a care in the world as he enjoyed a day out with his son and daughter in the Hamptons.

Wearing a Yankees hat and a grey shirt Lauer took control of the small vessel as his children relaxed up front with a friend.

Back on dry land Roque looked somber as she walked around Sag Harbor after a trip to the shops.

Wearing navy cropped pants and white shirt Roque appeared preoccupied on her phone as news of their split broke.

The couple, who met on a blind date, got hitched in 1998 after the shamed TV hosts’ first marriage to Nancy Alspaugh ended in 1988.

She said at the time of his firing: ‘He’s been the best person that’s ever held that job and I couldn’t imagine that anything that he would have done — that would have been so out of character for him — that would have caused that reaction.’

Director of public information for the New York State Unified Court System Lucian Chalfen told People: ‘The case, which is an uncontested matrimonial, was filed on July 9th in State Supreme Court in Suffolk County, New York and is awaiting judicial review of the agreement.

‘Upon a judge’s signature, it will be sent to the court clerk’s office to be entered. The process could take up to a few months.’

An attorney for Rogue said: ‘The matter has been settled.’

The couple, who have three children Jack, 18, daughter Romy, 15, and son Thijs, 12, removed their rings in December 2017 but were reportedly fighting to save their marriage.

A source said at the time: ‘He doesn’t want a divorce. Both of them, their first thought is their children.’

Their children will reportedly remain in the Hamptons with Roque while the 61-year-old Lauer moves elsewhere.

PageSix reported in June that Lauer agreed to give Roque a $20million settlement and was ‘bending over backward’ to appease her due to his guilt.

Roque will also reportedly keep the couple’s 40-acre $3.5 million Hamptons horse farm in Water Mill.

In late June, the couple put their sprawling Strongheart Manor in the Hamptons up for sale for about $44 million.

Lauer actually bought the house from Richard Gere for $36 million in 2016, as the actor collected funds to pay for his own divorce to Carey Lowell.

The once-happy couple lived at the home together for only a year before they split over sexual misconduct allegations made against Lauer.

In April last year, Lauer claimed he’d tried to ‘protect’ his family from ’embarrassment’ by staying silent about allegations of sexual misconduct.

He admitted he had ‘acted inappropriately’, but he also insisted that many of the allegations made against him are ‘absolutely false’.

He said in a statement: ‘I have made no public comments on the many false stories from anonymous or biased sources that have been reported about me over these past several months. I remained silent in an attempt to protect my family from further embarrassment and to restore a small degree of the privacy they have lost.

‘But defending my family now requires me to speak up. I fully acknowledge that I acted inappropriately as a husband, father and principal at NBC. However I want to make it perfectly clear that any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive or abusive actions on my part, at any time, are absolutely false.’

Lauer was fired from his job on the show, when it was alleged that he had sexually harassed an intern during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, back in 2014.

A number of other women have come forward to make similar complaints.

Shortly after he was fired, Lauer released a statement in which he admitted to being sorry for his past mistakes, but he also insisted that some of the accusations were untrue, adding: ‘There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry.

‘As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly. Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job.’

Roque filed for divorce in 2006 claiming Lauer was ‘cruel and inhumane’ and showed ‘extreme anger and hostility’ before withdrew the court papers three weeks after filing them.

A source told Entertainment Tonight in March 2018: ‘They were known for leading very separate lives. They decided to stay together for the children and to keep up appearances which was very important for Matt. At first, Annette was disgraced by the accusations, just walking around in public became difficult. As time passed, the humiliation turned to anger.’

‘The last two years of their marriage were hell,’ the source continued to claim. ‘Annette had to hear about Matt’s wandering eye incessantly. People noticed his focus seemed to be all about his career and life in New York, certainly not about making his marriage work.’
