Matt Lauer’s wife is ‘meeting with lawyers’

Matt Lauer’s wife of 20 years has been meeting with lawyers to try to get a higher settlement out of the disgraced Today anchor if the couple proceed with a divorce.

Dutch former model Annette Roque was seen heading into the law firm Latham & Watkins in Manhattan on Wednesday.

Her meeting with lawyers came three weeks after Lauer was fired by NBC when an unnamed woman accused the 59-year-old journalist of sexual harassment.

It’s not clear what will happen between Lauer and Roque following the accusations.

A source who worked with Lauer told People Magazine earlier this month that the couple’s marriage had been strained for years – and that Roque filed for divorce in 2006.

She claimed that claiming that Lauer performed ‘cruel and inhumane’ acts against her and demonstrated ‘extreme anger and hostility’ that endangered her mental and physical wellbeing, according to court documents.

The pair reconciled but the relationship never regained its original luster, with the source saying the two ‘lived totally separate lives.’

Lauer was ‘essentially living as a single guy’ in Manhattan, said the source, while Roque stayed in the Hamptons along with their three children.

An insider opened up about Rogue’s visit to the law office on Wednesday to Page Six.

Shortly after his firing, Lauer said he was 'truly sorry' and that 'there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed'

They said: ‘The post-nup will likely specify how much Annette would get if they divorce, but she is expected to challenge it given Matt’s earnings since 2006, and given how he has humiliated her.

‘There are also issues over all the property and land they own, both in the Hamptons and abroad.’

Under a contract he signed in 2016, Lauer was being paid $25million a year at NBC.

Lauer and Roque have a 16-year-old son, a 14-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son together.

Earlier this week, a former Today show staffer who said she had a brief relationship with Lauer in 2000 detailed the affair to Megyn Kelly.

Addie Collins Zinone first told Variety about the month-long affair she had with the already-married Lauer in 2000, when she was just a 24-year-old production assistant at Today.

While Zinone said the relationship was consensual, she says the power dynamics have made her regret the relationship.
