Speaking to news.com.au, Matt admitted that, during the writing process, he perhaps had bitten off more than he could chew creatively.

‘It almost broke me,’ he told the publication. ‘There were moments where I thought “oh, this is how people have a meltdown.  All of a sudden I had so much on my plate and I thought “I get it.”‘

While Matt added that he came out of the process relatively unscathed, his strong work ethic hadn’t abated.

‘I’m being a bit better with myself now…but I’ve got a project even now that I can’t talk about that’s something I’ve never done before,’ he said.

The 32-year-old based the series on his real-life relationship drama, which saw his longtime girlfriend cheat on him with his best friend.

The show follows Matt’s character AJ, whose girlfriend-of-10-years has an affair with his BFF while they are all living together.

Too much: 'It almost broke me,' he told news.com.au. 'There were moments where I thought "oh, this is how people have a meltdown. All of a sudden I had so much on my plate and I thought "I get it"'
