Kyle Sandilands is one radio’s highest paid personalities, reportedly earning ‘more than $12,000’ for each episode of his breakfast show.
But it turns out it’s considerably less expensive to have someone fill-in for the shock jock when he calls in sick.
On Thursday, HIT 105 host Matty Acton revealed he was paid nothing to cover for Kyle one morning, and it even ended up costing him money because he was hit with a $220 speeding fine while racing into the studio.

‘When I was in Melbourne I got a $220 fine from a speeding camera. I was going to fill-in for Kyle Sandilands because he didn’t show up for work, and I got a call like ten minutes before the show started, so I sped in to make it to the show’, Matty told his B105 co-stars Stav and Abby.
‘Did you send him (Kyle) the bill?’ Abby then asked.
‘No, I had to pay it, and I never got paid for filling in! So that day, I started work at 6AM and worked until 6PM, and it cost me $220 bucks!’ Matty replied.
‘Why didn’t you get paid? We’ve got to call Kyle, he owes you money!’ Abby protested.

Meanwhile, Kyle defected to KIIS FM in 2014, where he and co-host Jackie O signed lucrative new contracts.

In 2016, Kyle revealed he gets paid ‘more than $3million’ a year for his role on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
That works out to be more than $60,000 a week, or about $12,000 a day.
‘And that’s just the radio money,’ Kyle explained at the time, ‘I own businesses – coconut water… I make a fortune off that s**t’.
