‘I am focused in football,’ he told reporters in his pre-match press conference.

‘I am not kid. I’ve spent my whole live playing football. We are in a business where the rumours are there. I completely understand what is going on. Sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in a negative way. This kind of thing cannot distract. We need to live with that.

‘I cannot make the mistake to talk because you know very well that everything we say. When I spoke at Espanyol when my dream was to meet [Sir Alex] Ferguson, that is now going to be misunderstood and taken out of context.

‘Football is today. It’s not tomorrow. The club needs to plan and we need to plan.

‘I said to you all, my contract is 2023. I am really happy in Paris Saint-Germain. It’s a fact.’
