McCain’s pallbearers to include Warren Beatty, Joe Biden, Gary Hart, and FedEx CEO

Sen. John McCain’s casked will be born by pallbearers who speak to his decades-long career in public service and his enduring friendships formed in the Senate, as well as his business ties.

One boldface name who will participate is actor Warren Beatty, who is identified as a friend, actor, filmaker, and political activist by McCain’s office.  

Also participating will be Vice President Joe Biden, who forged a frienship with the Arizona senator during their years serving together in the Senate.

Several former senators were given the honor of participating in the service of McCain, who was lauded as an American hero Monday, days after his death.

Sen. John McCain’s pallbearers will include former senators, actor Warren Beatty, and former vice president Joe Biden, a former senator

Among them are Colorado Sen. Gary Hart, who like McCain tried and failed to grab the brass ring of the presidency.

Sen. Russ Feingold, a Wisconsin Democrat and McCain’s partner in campaign finance reform, will be there, as will former Texas Sen. Phil Gramm, like McCain a budget hawk. 

McCain’s independent streak will be highlighted by former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who also toyed with presidential aspirations. Bloomberg is a former Republican and former Democrat who became an independent also identified for his philanthropy.    

McCain’s dedication to the military will be highlighted by former Defense Sec. William Cohen, who is also identified as a partner of the Cohen Group.

Trump’s campaign manager, Rick Davis, who read McCain’s final statement, also will participate. The former partner of Paul Manafort is now Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Pegasus Capital Advisors, LP.

Carla Eudy, a longtime fundraiser, and Stephen Dart, a friend and businessman, will also be pallbearers. 

 A release also lists former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and Vladimir Kara-Murza:, Vice Chairman of Open Russia, and Chairman of the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom. 

The chair of FedEx, Fred Smith will be there, as will friend and writing companion Mark Salter. 

In addition to leading the Senate Armed Services Committee, McCain spent years as a leader on technology issues on the Senate Commerce Committee. 

He was hailed as a hero Monday for his Vietnam captivity and his bold stands against powerful adversaries in politics.
