Mecca Australia names their top 25 best-selling products

A $389 perfume, a lightweight foundation and an eye-popping glitter eyeshadow palette have all made it into the top 25 best-selling products at Mecca Australia. 

The beauty hub, which offers more than 100 global brands to women across the country, recently revealed their current best-selling list across all products – with some very surprising results. 

Here, FEMAIL looks at the top 12 products in detail and what it is that makes them stand out in the increasingly saturated beauty market.

1. URBAN DECAY NAKED HEAT EYESHADOW PALETTE, $83 

This chic new palette is one of many palette’s by Urban Decay that have sent beauty guru’s into a frenzy of late. 

The relatively affordable eyeshadow palette is described as an ‘amber-hued collection of 12 on-trend neutrals that you won’t be able to put down’ and is made up of warm browns, burnt oranges and glitter-injected tones.  

‘My brother gave me this for my birthday and it’s now what I want to put on my eyes every day. Like another reviewer below I’ve found that it makes my green eyes pop wonderfully, and the quality of the shadows is next level,’ one woman wrote.   

The downside? 

‘I love Urban Decay so much, however this is just for the women who wear and can wear warm tones. I’m a cool base and this palette does nothing for me,’ a woman wrote.

The curved brush has been a hit around the world and it is described overall as a brush that ‘separates, coats and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection!’

According to those who have used it, just one coat of the black, collagen-fuelled mascara formula leaves the lashes full, defined and stretched to great lengths.

Thousands of women have reviewed the product, with one of the most recent reviews praising the product for its ability to keep lashes black, curled and lengthened throughout the day. 

The downside? 

Some have taken issue with the large size of the wand and others have found the formula clumpy and slow to dry.

Since beauty YouTubers discovered this foundation, it has been flying off shelves. 

The perfecting foundation claims to provide natural looking medium to full coverage, is oil free and is known to be hydrating for the skin.

Following closely behind was this hydrating foundation, which is known to brighten and even the skin tone, whilst providing all day coverage with a natural, radiant finish.

This foundation is an artistry favorite backstage at Fashion Week, with Nars claiming the silky liquid foundation ‘delivers immediate hydration, evens skin tone and leaves the skin brighter and more radiant’. 

‘I have oily skin, hyperpigmentation and the occasional redness but I still love this foundation. I found it very easy to build up the coverage in areas where I need it,’ a customer wrote. 

The downside?

‘If it manages to stick to my skin, it’s sliding off before I’ve finished doing my makeup,’ a customer wrote previously.

This product is said to ‘lock down complexion, eyes and lips’ for the night. 

The cult-favourite, bestselling setting spray promises an ‘invincible makeup look’ and the formula includes Skindinavia, a highly advanced mist that prevents melting, fading or settling into lines and ‘keeps makeup looking fresh and flawless for up to 16 hours’.

‘ It gets rid of all powdery/cakey looks, locks in makeup for all day long wear and just makes everything sit nice and matte. Buy it, you will not regret it,’ a customer wrote. 

The downside? 

‘I feel like this was the one that every beauty guru on YouTube talked about. Not only did it disappoint me it made my skin way more dry and did not make my make up last throughout the day,’ a woman wrote of her experience.

6. NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER, $44

While some may think that $44 for a concealer is a little steep, the reviews speak for themselves. 

The creamy concealer promises ‘perfect coverage and long lasting results’ and a ‘beautiful, luminous lightweight finish that is a favourite among makeup artists’.

It also promises to ‘diminish the appearance of fine lines and signs of fatigue’.

‘This is the best concealer for covering up spots and evening out pigmentation,’ a customer wrote. 

The downside? 

‘I couldn’t dislike a concealer more if I tried. It settles into my fine lines, it was dry, it didn’t blend nicely,’ an unhappy customer wrote.

The brand’s best seller, the Drying Lotion is a spot treatment made with a blend of calamine and salicylic acid to ‘clear up and soothe unsightly whiteheads overnight’.

Just one dab promises to ‘heal and dry pimples quickly’.

‘At this price point you wont be disappointed. I have my whole family using this product,’ one customer wrote. 

The downside? 

‘For me it just didn’t work and I have no idea why. I just have the usual red pimples and when I used this product they look the exact same in the morning,’ a woman wrote.

The downside? 

Some have reported breakouts, dryness and redness following purchase while others have taken issue with the hefty price tag.

11. DR. DENNIS GROSS HYALURONIC MOISTURE CUSHION, $84

This oil-free moisturiser locks in hydration and promises to ‘firm the skin for a younger looking complexion’.

While not cheap, the product is said to seal in ‘time-released hydration as it helps firm and smooth skin’s appearance for a more even, younger-looking complexion’. 

‘Since using this moisturizer my face stays matte all day! I usually have the feeling of having moisturizer on but I don’t even notice this one,’ one reviewer wrote. 

The downside? 

‘This moisturiser would be good for the oily skin people as I have normal skin and dried my skin out. Did not enjoy this purchase at all,’ one customer wrote.

12. LE LABO SANTAL 33, $389

This unisex fragrance is described at having ‘notes of iris, spice and violet’.

It was created in collaboration with Frank Voekl, the nose behind Musk 25, Iris 39, Baie Rose 26 and Santal 26 candle.

Those behind it do say, however, that it is ‘not for the faint of heart’ and describe it as being an ‘intoxicating scent’ that ‘sets apart the boys from the men’.

The fragrance is also laced with ‘heady notes of cardamon’, Australian sandalwood, cedarwood, leather and musk. It is also blended by hand.

‘It goes on with a very strong woody and sandalwood tone. But gets sweeter and warmer on your skin, the longer you wear it,’ one reviewer wrote.

The downside? 

Many are not impressed with the scent after spending so much money on it, with one writing ‘I smell like wood’.
