Meet Alex Beresford’s wife Imogen McKay – the restaurant manager who stole ITV weatherman’s heart

Beloved ITV weatherman Alex Beresford is leaving his wife Imogen at home to partake in this year’s Celebrity edition of Race Across the World – and she’s not happy, according to Radio Times.

Famed presenter Alex Beresford, 42, married his restaurant manager wife Imogen McKay, 30, in a stunning Mallorca ceremony last September after he previously got down on one knee on the island.

Alex popped the question on New Year’s Day while the pair were holidaying on a beach in Deia, Mallorca after two years of dating.

A mutual friend set the lovebirds up on a blind date in August 2020 and the rest is history.

To mark their special moment, the happy couple returned to the Spanish island to tie the knot at the picturesque Son Marroig estate.

Unfortunately, their big day coincided with the late Queen’s state funeral – but Alex made sure to pay his respects to the monarch by watching Britain mourn on a TV in a local village café.

As of yesterday, the star appeared on the BBC One show Celebrity Race Across the World – battling it out with Billy Monger, Harry Judd and Melanie Blatt.

Viewers are watching the drama unfold as they wonder who will make it to Norway without phones or flights.

But Alex, decided to take his dad Noel on the taxing adventure, saying his wife Imogen wanted to tag along with him.

The ITV presenter sweetly told Times Radio the reasoning behind his decision.

Alex said: ‘You don’t get to spend this sort of time with your parents as an adult.

Imogen was upset, as she loves travelling and she’s a fan of the show but, as much as I love her and spending time with her, I’m not sure this was the honeymoon she’d want!

‘With hindsight, I think I made the right decision.’

Imogen grew up in Australia and works in e-commerce operations for a top London restaurant.

Before Alex and Imogen met, she recalled that she had never seen him on television before meeting him and refrained looking him up before their date as she wanted to find out first hand what he was like.

During their first date in Bristol, Imogen felt as if they had ‘known each other for ages’, she recalled.

And at their wedding Cruz acted as ring bearer and his mini best man, while his brother and cousin performed the role of ushers, and his best friends – both called Leon – were his best men.

Imogen’s sisters, Helena and Georgia, were bridesmaids and led the bridal procession down the aisle to the foot of the white marble temple.

Alex has worked on Good Morning Britain since 2014 and made his Dancing On Ice debut in 2018.

In 2021, Alex criticised Piers Morgan on GMB for his comments regarding Megan Markle’s interview with Operah.
