Meet Danny Wallis: The rich lister who bought THREE homes for $12.2MILLION on The Block 2021 finale

He’s no stranger to auction day on The Block and Sunday’s episode was no different.

Danny Wallis, the Melbourne-based IT entrepreneur with a reported net worth of $120million, bought not one but three houses this year for a combined $12.2million.

The eccentric rich lister kept his winning streak, having bought three homes at last year’s auction for almost $12million, and viewers at home flocked to Twitter to either praise or mock his unique bidding style that often comes right down to the cent.

Danny purchased  Mitch and Mark’s winning house for $4,044,444.44, Tanya and Vito’s for $3.8 million and one cent, and Kirsty and Jesse’s for $4,401,523.67.

The businessman who sold his IT service management company DWS in September last year to an Indian tech giant for $126million, will donate Tanya and Vito’s stunning home to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

Viewers at home were either amused or annoyed by Danny’s very precise way of bidding right down to the cent, with one simply posting on Twitter, ‘Shut up Danny!!’

Another went so far as to suggest Danny ‘ruins’ The Block auctions by ‘screwing honest buyers over just to get his face on TV’.

One agreed, writing, ‘This is Danny Wallis’ yearly 5 mins of fame!’

However it wasn’t all negative with some finding his bidding entertainment gold.

‘Danny Wallis has done more for reality TV contestants in Australia that any TV network ever will!’ one posted.

Last year’s auction day saw Danny buying three properties for a combined total of almost $12million, after having placed very generous bids on all five homes.

Danny purchased Sarah and George’s property for $4,000,002, as well as Daniel and Jade’s for $3.8million, and Harry and Tash’s for $4million.

A second year in a row! Danny dropped just under a whopping $12million on THREE properties at The Block 2020 finale

After Jimmy and Tam were crowned the winners, having earned an incredible profit of $966,000, host Scott Cam introduced Danny to the group.

‘It’s the Danny Wallis show!’ Scott announced, referencing the huge amount of cash the wealthy businessman dropped in just one day.

‘All the houses are great, even the ones I didn’t buy,’ Danny playfully told the group.

In another shock twist, Danny purchased Mitch and Mark’s home in season 15 back in 2019 for $3.374million, with the stylish Sydney couple placing fifth.

Danny also purchased one of the properties in the 2012 season for $1.4million.
