‘It was one of the most miserable times of my life’: Megan McKenna reveals ‘everyone thought I was a b***h’ on TOWIE as she reflects on the lows of her reality career
Megan McKenna has branded her stint on TOWIE as ‘one of the most miserable times of my life’.
The TV star, 30, said she felt the show was like ‘walking into a lion’s den’ and felt people had the perception she was a ‘b***h’ purely based on what they had seen of her on Celebrity Big Brother.
Megan rose to fame on Ex On The Beach and starred in TOWIE for a year in 2016. Her turbulent relationship with cheating Pete Wicks formed one of the biggest storylines.
In a new interview, Megan reflected on her stint in the show and how former co-stars Gemma Collins, 42, and James Arg Argent, 35, are the members of the cast who have continued to support her singing career.
‘TOWIE was probably one of the most miserable times of my life. I loved the show and always watched it growing up,’ she told Closer.

‘It was like walking into the lion’s den. Everybody had this perception of me on the show and I wasn’t there to be a b***h. I stood my ground – although I definitely ruffled a few feathers.’
During her time on the show, Megan fell out with Chloe Lewis and had a bitter break-up with Pete Wicks, after she found he had been secretly sexting other women.
Megan then left the show to pursue her music career. She said out of the cast, it has been Gemma and James who have supported her the most.
Gemma and Megan were both on the same series on Celebrity Big Brother, and the pair still support each other to this day and bump into one another in M&S.
‘I didn’t know Gemma when I went into Big Brother and I really warmed to her,’ Megan said. ‘I’d say she’s one of the only ones on TOWIE apart from Arg who is really supportive of my music and messages me. That goes a long way.’
Megan is much happier pursuing her country music career and recently went Instagram official with her boyfriend Oliver Burke.
Oliver plays as a right winter for EFL Championship club Millwall, where he is currently on loan from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.
The pair went Instagram official with their romance last month during a romantic trip to Paris together.

Megan recently discussed the couple’s romance with new magazine, saying the pair have been ‘inseparable’ since they started dating.
She said: ‘We have mutual friends and our first date was just so lovely – we’ve been inseparable ever since. We literally do everything together and I’m so happy.
‘He’s such a lovely person and I’m really positive about everything – my life and my relationship.’
