Megan Thee Stallion is working to repair the homes of ‘the most vulnerable’ in Houston

Megan Thee Stallion has partnered with U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee to help rebuild her hometown of Houston in the wake of Winter Storm Uri.

After Texas’ historic freeze left millions of Texas without power last month, the 26-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper (born Megan Pete) and Lee, 71, have plans to repair the homes of the ‘most vulnerable’ with the NACC Disaster Services.

‘Seeing the devastation and hearing the heartbreaking stories that have surfaced, I knew I had to do something to help my hometown,’ Megan said in a statement to People.

She continued: ‘I am so happy that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, the NACC and I aligned on the goal of repairing the homes of the elderly and uninsured single moms who are the most vulnerable and often displaced by these kinds of devastating events.’

The record-breaking cold weather claimed at least 21 lives, including four family members who perished in a Houston-area house fire while using a fireplace to stay warm and a woman and a girl who died from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning from a car running in a garage after their home in the city lost power.

Megan has previously spoken about studying online for a degree in health-care administration at Texas Southern University and her dream of opening an assisted living facility for the elderly in Houston.

‘I never had a plan B; I always had two plan As. I knew I wanted to go to school, but I knew I wanted to pursue music,’ she told Marie Claire in April.

She explained: ‘When you really want to do something, you’re really going to put your mind to doing it. And I really want to do both. I have to do both.’

Despite her fierce work ethic and ambition Megan acknowledged the unique challenges that women have to face in the music industry and the double standards that come with the business.

‘A man can be as mediocre as he wants to be but still be praised,’ she said of the hypocrisy. ‘A man can talk about how he’s about to do all of these drugs and then come and shoot your house up. But as soon as I say something about my vagina, it’s the end of the world?

‘What are you really mad about? You cannot be mad about me rapping about sex. That’s not what you’re mad about.’ Megan asked, suggesting that it’s a deeper issue.

She continued: ‘Not only am I rapping about sex, I’m rapping about you making me feel good. I’m not rapping about licking on you. No, you’re going to do what I told you to do, and I feel like sometimes that can be a little intimidating… Sometimes it’s overwhelming to some men. They can’t handle it, they get a little shook, they get a little scared. But I’m not going nowhere, so get used to it.’

And the WAP hitmaker stands strong when it comes to representing women, hailing them as the superior sex.

‘I know that women are powerful. I know that we are out here birthing people. I know that we are out here running s**t, so I can’t even be mad at you for thinking that we should be held to a high standard,’ she says.

‘We’re the ultimate beings. We are the superior beings.’
