Meghan Markle could join Prince Harry in Australia

Meghan Markle looks set to make one of her first official trips as a royal to Australia.

Prince Harry has committed to attending the Invictus Games in Sydney in October 2018.

He founded the Olympics-style event for injured servicemen and women, and it is expected his future wife Miss Markle will join him at the Games.

The couple made their first appearance together at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September.

Australian Veterans’ Affairs Minister Dan Tehan said he was hopeful the newly married couple would both visit down under at the Games in 2018, according to News Corp.

‘The engagement is wonderful news,’ he said.

‘It would be wonderful to have Prince Harry and Meghan in Sydney next year for the Invictus Games.’

The couple will marry in spring 2018 after the prince proposed earlier in November.

Ms Markle has quit the hit show Suits after the engagement and will be moving to Britain.

She received an engagement ring designed by Prince Harry himself containing two diamonds from Princess Diana’s own personal collection set in a gold band.

Prince Harry said he was roasting a chicken the night he proposed to Ms Markle.

‘She didn’t even let me finish, she said “can I say yes, can I say yes”,’ the prince said in an interview after the announcement of their engagement.

‘It was a really nice moment, it was just the two of us and I think I managed to catch her by surprise,’ he said.

‘The fact that I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly was sort of confirmation to me that everything, all the stars were aligned, everything was just perfect.’

The couple had been dating for a year-and-a-half before the engagement, having been set up by a mutual friend.
