Meghan Markle is being styled by Jessica Mulroney from Canada

There was no stylist among the 11-strong entourage that accompanied the Duchess of Sussex on her two-day royal tour of Ireland with Prince Harry last week – and now FEMAIL can reveal why.

It appears Meghan’s close friend Jessica Mulroney is masterminding her royal wardrobe – from some 3,500 miles away in Toronto.

The Duchess, 36, toured the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibit at London’s South Bank on Tuesday wearing a sleeveless trench coat by the Canadian brand House of Nonie – a label she was introduced to by TV stylist and mother-of-three Jessica.

The thrilled designer behind House of Nonie, Nina Kharey, has publicly thanked Jessica on the brand’s Instagram account, and called Meghan’s outing in its $1,085 (£629) dress ‘an amazing day for us’.

It suggests that rather than keeping a personal stylist on her staff like Kate – and despite the considerable distance between the two women since Meghan relocated to London – it is Jessica who has been entrusted with helping the Duchess to refine her royal look.

It comes after Jessica was reported to have ‘quietly’ flown into London ahead of Meghan and Harry’s two-day trip to Ireland, to help the Duchess plan what would become a much talked about – and very high-end – royal tour wardrobe.

Writer and royal correspondent Omid Scobie tweeted to say the TV stylist had also had a hand in the £1,300 vibrant yellow Brandon Maxwell dress Meghan wore to a Commonwealth reception at Marlborough House in London last week, her olive green ensemble at Prince Louis’ christening at St James’s Palace, and the Dior LBD she wore to mark the centenary of the RAF.

Meghan’s return to colour came after she wore a series of pale pink ensembles for her first engagements after the royal wedding – and suggests she could have called on close friend Jessica for advice after her saccharine sweet dresses, flesh coloured tights and Duchess of Cambridge-esque blow dried curls failed to impress fashion commentators.

Since then Meghan has experimented with a sleek ponytail at the royal christening, dazzled in bottle green Givenchy, slate grey Roland Mouret and black Emilia Wickstead in Dublin, and wowed at Wimbledon in Ralph Lauren stripes.

According to one royal correspondent Jessica 'quietly' flew into London ahead of the royal visit to Ireland, to help Meghan prepare her much talked about - and very high-end - Dublin wardrobe. She's seen here wearing a Roland Mouret dress and earrings by Birks - one of Jessica's close friends is the Canadian jewellery brand's chief marketing officer

House of Nonie is the latest in a string of low-key Canadian brands that are now ingrained on the minds of British fashion fans since being sported by the Duchess – many of which have close links to her friend Jessica.

Meghan frequently wears jewellery by Birks – most recently during the royal visit to Dublin. The brand’s chief marketing officer, Eva Hartling, was described by Jessica as one of her ‘gems’ in an Instagram post dedicated to her closest friends.

Jessica – whose love of tailoring and power suits appears to have influenced the Duchess’ own outfits – also frequently wears jackets by Smythe, yet another Canadian label that’s been seen on the Duchess since she began joining Harry for public engagements.
