Glowing in green! Duchess of Sussex nails business chic in Giorgio Armani dress as she discusses women’s empowerment

  • The Duchess of Sussex, 41, spoke at an event in support of women and girls
  • The event in the US was also attended by Michelle Obama and Brooke Shields
  • Meghan has previously spoken about her passion for improving lives of women

The Duchess of Sussex glowed with confidence as she took part in a panel discussion about women’s empowerment in the US.

Meghan Markle, 41, looked elegant yet dressed for business in a green Giorgio Armani dress paired with stilettos, and wore her hair in a low bun as she spoke with Rabbi Sandy Eisenberg Sasso yesterday.

The Duchess, who along with her husband Prince Harry has dedicated resources from their charity the Archewell Foundation to help women in need, spoke at the moderated discussion, which was also attended by actress Brooke Shields and former first lady Michelle Obama.

According to royal journalist and friend of Meghan, Omid Scobie, who posted photos on Twitter, the event was held in support of the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, an organisation based in the US state which aims to increase opportunities for women and girls.

The organisation’s Twitter account reads: ‘We create options and opportunities for women and girls. We believe when a woman is successful, her community is strengthened.’

The sentiments echo words Meghan has expressed in the past regarding women’s rights and empowerment.

Speaking on a visit to the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2019, she said: ‘When we empower girls hungry for education, we cultivate women who are emboldened to effect change within their communities and globally.’

As the Duchess and her family celebrated the American holiday Thanksgiving last week, Meghan showed her dedication to the cause of helping women by attending a women’s homeless shelter where she helped prepare a meal for 300 women.

She shared a photo of herself cutting slices of pumpkin pie in the kitchen of the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) in Los Angeles, California on the website for the Archewell Foundation.

Last month, the Duke and Duchess announced a partnership between Archewell and The VING Project, which would see their charity donate $1 million towards a project to help women in need across the US.

The drive was inspired by Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, which invites a female guest on each week for a chat. During the discussion, they speak about how they have been stereotyped by their gender, race and background and how they have managed to overcome such stereotypes.

Speaking about the initiative, Meghan said: ‘Two things that bring me great joy are supporting women, and the spirit of giving.

‘With the return of Archetypes, Archewell Foundation and VING have come together to create the perfect combination of these loves.

‘By donating $1million in grants to women in need, our hope is not only to provide support where it may be felt deepest, but also to empower young adults to embrace the gift of giving at an early age.’
