Meghan Markle’s relative’s 911 call from assault arrest

Meghan Markle’s terrified future sister-in-law told a 911 operator that the actress’ half-brother threatened her all night during their violent New Year’s Eve bust up, according to the audio recording obtained by DailyMail.com.

Police were called to the home of Thomas Markle Jr and his fiancee Darlene Blount because, she told the operator, the 51-year-old was being ‘really f***ing weird’ and was beating himself up.

Blount said Thomas had been drinking when he became jealous, thinking she was trying to ‘f*** some dude’ she knew when out at a local bar.

The 36-year-old claimed to be ‘scared’ of Thomas because he is ‘a big guy’, suggesting to the operator that he could be mentally ill.

But when police arrived at the couple’s home in Grants Pass, Oregon, they didn’t buy Blount’s story that Thomas hurt himself and arrested her for assault.

Thomas’ bride-to-be was locked up in the Josephine County Jail for two nights until the District Attorney decided not to press charges and released her. 

The couple have since labeled the incident a wake-up call and said they are seeking relationship and alcohol counseling.

In Blount’s 911 call, which contrasts from the police report that was filed, she talks in a flat, distant tone and admits she had three beers that night.

When asked if Thomas had been drinking too, she said, ‘Yes, he has.’

Blount explained to the female operator: ‘He was telling me to leave earlier and I walked in.’

The operator then asked: ‘Was he saying anything while he was hitting himself?

Blount replied: ‘No. Not that I know of, it’s really f***ing weird’.

During another part of the conversation Blount claimed: ‘He threatened me all night.

‘We went out to the Cedarwood [Saloon] earlier and he said something about some dude and I’m going to go f*** him. It’s not like that’.

Blount said that Thomas subjected her to ‘mentally abusive type s**t’ and added: ‘I’m more in fear for his own safety right now (inaudible) really f***ing weird to me. I don’t know what to do’.

Blount claimed in the call that Thomas was possibly suffering from a ‘mental thing’, which is why he was punching himself.

She said: ‘I’m scared, he’s a big guy’.

But the police report paints a very different story of the incident.

It states that Thomas answered the door after Blount’s 11.38pm call with blood ‘pouring’ out of him.

Officer Surmi of the Grants Pass Police asked Thomas if he hit himself and Thomas denied it, saying Blount was ‘freaking crazy’ and that she attacked him.

The report says that the couple had a fight at the Cedarwood Saloon because Thomas accused Blount of cheating on him.

Blount first hit Thomas in the kitchen, leaving blood on the floor, the report says.

His fiancee then began ‘repeatedly hitting him while he was sitting on the couch’, the report continues.

Thomas was left ‘black and blue’ by the beating and was ‘swollen and bleeding’.

Thomas put his pain level at eight out of 10 and said that it ‘hurt like crazy when [Blount] was punching me’.

Officer Surmi notes that another police officer at the scene noticed Darlene’s right knuckles were red and had an abrasion on them.

While she was speaking to the cops she washed her hands but they took pictures and video.

Officer Surmi writes that he kept asking Blount if she punched Thomas but she didn’t answer the question, instead saying: ‘I’m the one who called you!’

Officer Surmi writes that he believes Blount got ‘scared’ after hitting Thomas and ‘called 911 to blame Thomas’.

But while Thomas and Blount were fighting on New Year’s Eve, Meghan, 36, was partying with Harry, 33, in Monaco.

The two are said to have flown to Nice and took a helicopter to the tax haven in the South of France where they attended a ritzy party.

The A-list couple are due to marry in May and it is not clear if Thomas will get an invite to Meghan’s big day.

After the bust up, Thomas blamed it on the pressure of being in the public eye, saying: ‘It hasn’t been easy. Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry has shone a spotlight on our family. 

‘It doesn’t help when you have issues and your sister is engaged to Royalty. It adds a whole new level of scrutiny.’

‘We’ve been under a lot of stress because of all the attention. At some point you find yourself drinking too much to escape the pressure.’ 

But this isn’t the first time Thomas and Blount had a fight that ended with one of them behind bars.
