Mel B ‘is close to settling’ with Lorraine Gilles

Lawyers for Mel B’s former nanny Lorraine Gilles are close to settling over a temporary restraining order the star had slapped on her 25-year-old employee, DailyMail.com has learned.

In May the former Spice Girl won a five-year order against Gilles which meant the nanny must not harass Mel and stay at least 100 yards away from her.

Mel alleged that her former husband Stephen Belafonte impregnated Gilles and paid her $241,000 to have an abortion and that the former employee was now harassing and annoying her in collusion with her ex.

But DailyMail.com understands that lawyers for the nanny and Mel held lengthy meetings Friday and are close to an agreement which will be formalized in court Monday. That would mean the restraining order will be removed by a judge.

Blonde Gilles was photographed leaving her lawyer’s office in Calabasas, California Friday alongside entrepreneur husband Michael Bleau.

DailyMail.com’s exclusive photos show the couple leaving the plush offices of attorney Daniel Holzman at 5pm after an hour long meeting.

In April Mel had filed a similar temporary restraining order against Belafonte claiming he beat and abused her during their ten year marriage.

That order was removed in court Thursday after the couple came to a private settlement just days before the domestic violence trial was set to begin.

The judge handling the case had merged both Belafonte and Gilles’ restraining orders to be dealt with in the same trial scheduled for Monday.

That trial will no longer go ahead if a private settlement is made.

Gilles, who claims she enjoyed group sex with Mel and Belafonte during their marriage, helped to raise the star’s three children, Pheonix, 18, from her previous marriage to Jimmy Gulzar, Madison, six, her daughter with Belafonte and Angel, 11, her daughter with comic Eddie Murphy.

She has always denied the claims made by Mel and sued her for defamation after the star branded her a ‘prostitute’ and a ‘homewrecker’ in court papers.

The defamation case is still pending.

Gilles did, however, say she willingly took part in threesomes with Mel and Belafonte.

Her court papers claimed: ‘At no point did Gilles and Belafonte engage in any sexual acts without Brown’s knowledge or participation and at no point did Gilles and Belafonte represent to Brown that Gilles was pregnant with Belafonte’s child.’

A source told DailyMail.com: ‘Mel finally gave her deposition in the case on Wednesday which lasted into the night, it was then things began to crumble.

‘That night she settled with Stephen and the following day the court removed the temporary restraining order.

‘Now Mel is close to settling with Lorraine meaning the trial next week will be cancelled, but she still has the defamation case to deal with.’

After the restraining order against him was removed Belafonte said he’s the ‘happiest guy in the world’.

In a video statement released exclusively to DailyMail.com, the jubilant film producer said his family has been ‘restored’ and he’s glad the ‘cloud of suspicion’ of domestic violence is no longer hanging over his head.

He and Mel, both 42, can now move forward with hearings for their divorce.

It is thought that an agreement was reached so that Belafonte could see his daughter Madison, six, whom he shares with the America’s Got Talent judge.

Custody of Madison and Belafonte’s application for step-father visitation of 10 year -old Angel – Mel B’s daughter by Eddie Murphy – are still to be settled.

Mel and Belafonte married in 2007 but the singer filed for divorce in March this year citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ and claimed domestic abuse.

Belafonte’s legal team was planning on using 56 videos as evidence in the upcoming trial featuring Mel, claiming to show the star taking cocaine and in a ‘sexual activity’.

Judge Juhas said he would return the controversial videos submitted as exhibits by Belafonte – 20 of which showed allegedly sexual situations involving Mel – to Belafonte.
