Mel C claims the Spice Girls were never asked to attend the Royal Wedding

Spice Girls were ‘never invited, and never asked to perform’ at the Royal Wedding, band member Mel C has claimed.

Making an in-studio appearance on Australian radio station Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa on Friday, the 44-year-old was probed for info on the pop band’s connection to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle .

‘I should clear up the invitation part of it – we were never invited!’ she stated adamantly, contradicting claims made by band mate Mel B.

‘We were never invited!’ Mel C claims the Spice Girls were never asked to attend the Royal Wedding despite band mate Mel B insisting ‘all five’ members would be there… and admits she’s a ‘bit annoyed’ over the snub

The fact that Mel C was appearing in a Sydney studio, hours before Prince Harry and Meghan are set to wed, implies she knew for some time that she would not be there.

Prior to her reveal, show hosts Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli were under the impression the songstress had been invited.

‘Let’s talk about you and the invitation to the royal wedding, and how you know the royals?’ Wippa asked.

Mel rubbished the rumours claiming the band were ever slated to perform or attend, causing people in the studio to gasp in surprise.

Show producer Sarah McGilvray then clarified: ‘So you’re not performing? And you’re not going as guest?’

‘No. We were never invited, we were never asked to perform… And I was a little bit annoyed, actually!’ she replied.

Mel C subsequently admitted that she was considering confronting Prince Charles about the apparent snub when the pair worked at the Prince’s Trust Awards together in March.

‘I was here in London and I was doing the Prince’s trust awards and there was a little lineup and it’s always nice to see Prince Charles, we do have some history,’ she recalled.

‘You know, back in the day with the girls and the bottom pinch and the lipstick on the face, so it is nice to see Charles, he’s a lovely, lovely man.’

Mel C added: ‘But I felt like going “Oy! Where’s my invite?”‘

After the Spice Girls reunited earlier this year, fans were certain band would appear at the Royal Wedding and likely perform at the reception.

Mel B then fuelled the rumours when she appeared on an American chat show and all but confirmed that she and the girls were attending.
