Mel Waring has spoken out about her ‘journey into life as a single mother’ following the public breakdown of her relationship with cricket star, Nathan Lyon.
Lyon and Ms Waring’s relationship made headlines in December after a romance between the cricketer and a Perth real estate agent was revealed by MailOnline.
Addressing the revelations in a new blog called Life of Lyons on Friday, Ms Waring said she needed an ‘outlet for my grief, strength and confusion’.

‘In December of 2017 my world came falling down around me. Life as I knew it was over and my soul mate was gone, leaving me and our girls, aged three and four, to pick up the broken pieces and try to find a way to move forward alone,’ she said.
‘Overnight I became a single mum to two children, overnight my world was rocked to its core and it changed forever.’
Ms Waring said she had no idea about Lyon’s new relationship, despite friends of the cricketer’s claiming otherwise.
‘If anyone had asked me about my life at the start of last year, my answer would have been pretty simple. I was a 29-year-old woman, with two incredible little girls and an incredible partner who I endlessly loved and adored for nine years,’ she said.

‘For the past seven of those years, we have travelled around the world. I have supported him and his dream of playing professional cricket for his country, raising our two gorgeous children at home, in hotel rooms, and on tour.
‘Trying to make the most of our crazy, incredible life as a family unit of four.
‘A year ago, my life was perfect. Except as I was about to find out, it wasn’t.’
With her new blog, Ms Waring said she was ready to tell her side of the story, which captivated the nation.
‘I no longer feel like I need to or should be silenced in something that has been so public, hurtful and downright humiliating for me. I deserve to have a voice,’ she said.
When news broke of Lyon’s new relationship with Perth woman Emma McCarthy late last year, Ms Waring told Mail Online she knew nothing about it.

Despite her initial reaction of anger and shock, Ms Waring said she was not speaking out to ‘shame the person or people involved’.
‘It’s not a blog of hate or spite on them for the choices they made (karma will take care of that). This is about me and my personal journey, my truth,’ she said.
After pictures of Lyon with Ms McCarthy surfaced, friends of his said he had been separated from the mother of his children for some time.
A source close to the bowler insisted he had not done anything wrong and that his relationship with Ms Waring had run its course some time ago.
‘Nathan and Mel aren’t together, and have been separated for some time,’ the source said.
‘Nathan and Emma are in a committed relationship, Nathan is very much in love with Emma.

‘It is 100% not an affair, it’s an open and committed relationship and everyone is aware of it, but it is being kept private for the sake of Nathan’s kids.’
The source claimed the pair have been in a ‘loving and committed relationship for over a year’, and met at a time when Lyon ‘considered himself a single man’.
‘Mel is aware of it, but she is struggling to come to terms with it. Mel and Nathan were in a long term relationship but they were never married.
‘Nathan travels a lot but he is trying his best to be a good father and he doesn’t want his kids to be exposed to all of the media coverage of his new relationship.’
These claims were rubbished by Ms Waring who said she was left blindsided.
Ms Waring was also supported by many of Australia’s cricketing WAGs who came out saying she and Lyon were ‘not separated… as suggested’.
