Melania Trump appeared to be trying to blend into the background as she arrived at the UN General Assembly with her husband on Tuesday morning.
The 47-year-old first lady went for an understated look for the occasion, dressing in a relaxed-fit gray suit with a simple black button-down underneath.
She walked several paces behind Donald Trump as she stepped into the building, resting one hand in her pocket and she stopped to stand behind him while he addressed the press.

Trump was followed by Melania, U.S. United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, and Secret Service members as he stepped into the UN this morning.
He stopped just inside the doors to deliver quick remarks on the US military, in which he discussed sending messages of ‘peace’ and ‘strength’.
Melania stood silently by, striking a pose several feet behind him and alternatively looking at her husband and the cameras. Though she offered quick, subtle smiles, she also took on her signature pouty stare.
She donned a black shirt tucked into gray slacks, which she matched with a loose gray blazer with black buttons. She wore her hair relaxed around her shoulders and offered subtle smiles to the cameras.
Naturally, she accessorized with a pair of black pointy-toe pumps, but appeared to be all business for the occasion and forewent jewelry.

She maintained a pretty blank stare through most of the proceedings
Within moments, viewers who watched the scene unfold began to weigh in on Twitter, reacting to her look and reactions during the entrance and Trump’s subsequent speech.
‘First lady Melania Trump looks so great at the UN Assembly,’ wrote one. Others called out that her ‘smokey eye is on point’ and she looks ‘beautiful’.
‘Melania looks fabulous in a pantsuit,’ another fan tweeted.
Several, though, picked apart her body language, writing: ‘Melania Trump always looks unhappy.’
‘Melania robot batteries looked flat there,’ wrote another, while a third asked: ‘Is “Angry Model Face” Melania’s only expression?’
‘Melania has that dead fish stare down pat. From her days on the runway,’ added yet another, while one more wrote: ‘Melania’s face is ALWAYS frozen! It’s scary!’
At times she looked around and held her hand to her head

While the first lady’s body language and expressions seemed to be the most-discussed aspect of her appearance today, Melania’s sartorial choices have also frequently been front-page news as of late.
In August, she flew with her husband to Texas for an update on Hurricane Harvey, and was widely criticized for boarding the plane for the trip in sky-high stilettos.
Critics called the footwear inappropriate and accused Melania of being out of touch — and in fact, she changed while in the air, touching down in more sensible footwear.
On a subsequent trip, she wore flats to board the plane, and swapped them for $50 Converse sneakers when she landed.
But despite the outcry, designer Manolo Blahnik — whose heels Melania was wearing when she was criticized — doesn’t see a problem with her choice of shoes.

However, the heels’ designer Manolo Blahnik said that he did not think it was insensitive — and while she probably should have worn boots, but ‘she was wearing what she was wearing’
Later, when she went to visit Hurricane Irma victims, she wore flats instead
‘I don’t think she’s insensitive,’ he told Harper’s Bazaar UK. ‘I think she’s working non-stop to make it work — possibly she was just wearing the shoes she left New York in.’
Melania had actually been leaving Camp David on the occasion.
‘Yes, I think probably she could have worn Hunter boots, but she was wearing what she was wearing. I’m not good at advising people on what to wear because they wear what they want to.’
He went on: ‘They should just get rid of everybody and keep her. Aesthetically I mean, I’m not talking about politics — I don’t give a damn about that and I don’t know much about it. But in terms of fashion and beauty — well, I love her, she’s a beauty and that’s all there is to it.’
In his speech, Trump took aim at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un
He said: ‘As president of the United States I will always put America first’
Meanwhile this morning, Trump took the podium to deliver strong words on the subject of North Korea and Kim Jong Un to an international audience.
‘Rocket man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime,’ Trump warned gathered world leaders, picking up a derisive term for Kim Jong Un from one of his tweets over the weekend.
‘As president of the United States I will always put America first, just like you, the leaders of your countries will always and should always put your countries first,’ Trump said.
‘It has just been announced that we will be spending almost $700 billion on our military and defense,’ Trump told the world leaders who gathered to hear his debut remarks at an institution he has blasted in the past.
‘Our military will soon be the strongest it has ever been.’
