Melania Trump wears festive red skirt

Melania Trump stood behind her husband today as he delivered remarks at an event honoring Hispanic Heritage Month.

The 47-year-old First Lady seemed inspired by Latin culture in her choice of outfit, picking a bright red skirt with a ruffled mermaid hem.

She paired it with a figure-hugging off-white top with long sleeves and accessorized with a pair of red heels, making her a pop of color on a stage alongside people in dark suits.

Not one to usually crack a large smile — especially one that bares teeth — Melania showed off her pearly whites with a brief by glowing grin as she mounted the stage about a minute after her husband — to cheers from the audience.

She wore glossy pink lipstick, mascara, and bronzer, and kept her hair down around her shoulders in a pristine blow-out.

Standing near Labor Secretary Alex Acosta while Trump spoke at the podium in front of them, she returned her expression to a flat, pouty one, keeping her arms down at her sides.

She looked on from the stage in the East Room in the White House as the President spoke to the assembled reporters and Hispanic leaders.

Trump delivered a short speech in which he discussed the contributions of the Hispanic community in the US, doling out praise but also slipping in some words of criticism regarding what he perceives as the ‘tough’ culture.

‘You teach our children. You lead our churches. You protect our communities and you defend our nation,’ he said, reading off a teleprompter in the room.

‘Among you are leaders in government, faith, and business. Fantastic people in this audience.

‘I know some of them, and believe me, they’re very tough and they’re very smart. Sometimes they’re too tough. But that’s OK. I have to deal with it. I have to deal with it. Fantastic people.’

He also discussed the situation in Puerto Rico, pronouncing the territory’s name in an exaggerated accent that earned a few laughs from the crowd but some criticism on social media.
