Melbourne driver allegedly caught ‘having sex’ with female passenger after police chase

Driver accused of leading police on a wild three-hour chase is caught ‘having sex’ with his passenger in the front seat of a Volkswagen Golf – as cops ask the public for any dashcam footage

Police were confronted by a bizarre scene when they pounced on the alleged driver who sparked a dangerous three-hour pursuit – finding the man and his female passenger having sex in the front seat.

The 27-year-old man, from Fawkner, Melbourne, was is accused of driving a red Volkswagen Golf with false plates, clocking up speeds of 180km/h in an 80km/h zone on Minns Road in Kurunjang around 11.45pm on Sunday.

Police started to pursue the vehicle when the driver failed to pull over and have now asked the public to come forward with any dashcam footage that could assist their investigation.

Officers deployed tyre spikes at an intersection, rupturing the Volkswagen’s two front tyres but the hatchback continued to allude them.

A Victoria Police Air Wing was called in to follow the car as it entered the Western Highway and headed south-east towards Melbourne – only travelling about 40km with both front tyres blown out by the spikes.

Traffic was cleared as the car headed over the Westgate Freeway and out along the Monash Freeway before more tyre spikes were deployed by officers at Domain Tunnel.

The car eventually came to a stop in South Melbourne just before 3am.

Police allege that when they moved to arrest the driver they found a man ‘having sexual intercourse’ with a 23-year-old female passenger, 7News reported.

The alleged driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, committing indictable offences whilst on bail, breaching bail and possessing a controlled weapon.

He faced Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The woman was arrested but later released without charge. 

No one was injured during the chase, which lasted for more than three hours. 

Police have urged anyone with dashcam of the pursuit to come forward.
