A driver has filmed his bizarre stand-off with a Channel 9 reporter after their cars became stuck in an underground car park.

The driver filmed the moment he encountered a Mercedes SUV, believed to be driven by A Current Affair reporter Martin King, while trying to exit a Melbourne car park on Tuesday just before 3pm.

The Mercedes enters the car park but blocks the way for the other driver.

The two cars are then seen stuck facing each other for a moment before Mr King gets out of his car to speak to the impatient driver filming the moment with his dashcam.

‘Just reverse! Reverse!’ the Dashcam driver can be heard shouting in the clip shared to the Dashcam Owners of Australia Twitter account on Tuesday.

Mr King informs the driver he can’t reverse as there’s an object blocking his car in before the other motorists appears to recognise him.

‘Aren’t you?’ the driver says.

‘Yes I’m from Channel 9. I’ve got three kids in the car. I can’t reverse,’ Mr King says.

‘You’ve got a four-wheel-drive and you’re famous, just go back,’ the driver jokes.

The dashcam driver eventually backs down and reverses so that Mr King can maneuver his Mercedes to the side and allow him to drive out.

But, desperate to get the last word in, the driver yells out the window as he passes Mr King: ‘Thank you, I’m calling Channel Seven’.

Though the clip had racked up more than 2,600 views by Tuesday night, the stand-off likely wouldn’t have fazed the 36-year industry veteran.

The reporter made headlines himself in 2016 when he stepped in to defend a woman who was being assaulted by her partner in broad daylight in the Melbourne CBD.

He and other bystanders prevented the man from running away until police could arrive and arrest him.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Mr King for comment.
