He then helps himself to cash, a protein shake and audaciously searches through gym staff belongings.

Letting himself into a store room, the man conducts thorough checks of storage cabinets and at one point, checks out a pair of shoes.

Later, he takes to the gym’s petty cash before a group of trainers arrive for their morning shift.

The quick-thinker gets away with telling them he’s the new cleaner and leaves for the day after a five hour-long ‘shift’.

Gym owner Todd Howard said the thief shut the gym down and kicked everyone out while he raided it of cash, even putting a hand-written sign up.

Mr Howard shared a photo of the man on social media, before a gym member tracked the man down at a local food court and called the police.

The thief was given bail on the condition he reported to police and stayed at least 100m away from every Snap Fitness gym in Australia.
